Proud anti-fascist & bird-person

  • I do really like garbanzo beans if they're made into falafel or hummus, but otherwise not really.

Soy is great, especially as edamame or tofu.

  • I believe peanuts are also legumes? Maybe they're cousins. I was wondering how wide people would interpret it though.

  • You picked my second choice in each category!

  • Baked beans are so good, excellent choice.

  • Can't beat I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor.

  • Hilarious that he caught a billionaire in the most obvious scam since Wile E. Coyote painted "free birdseed" on the side of a box that's held up by a stick.

  • The Atlantic is going to be so embarrassed when they get a copy of the certification that he doesn't have donkey brains.

  • Great list. To add some more pantry stable proteins, I really like dried mushrooms. Shiitake in particular rehydrates into a very nice meat substitute, and the liquid from the process is rich with savory mushroom flavor.

Also, canned chicken or tuna is always great to have on hand for a quick meal.

  • "Johnson! Turn in your gun and badge...

for the weekend, because you've got an all-expenses-paid trip to sunny Palm Beach Florida! Make sure you don't beat your wife while you're on administrative leave or we'll have to send you on a Mediterranean cruise, buster."

  • I went to see Madama Butterfly this last weekend. I don't think there was a dry eye in the house at the end.

It was kind of funny how people booed the actor who played Pinkerton at the end, and he clearly took it as a compliment.

  • I said supposing you brought the light inside the body, which you can do either through the skin or in some other way. And I think you said you're going to test that too... So, we'll see, but the whole concept of the light, the way it kills it in one minute - that's pretty powerful.

  • That's really the heart of the matter: it's so disrespectful to put in the effort to change an artist's work just to remove the credit.

My kids are artists, and they have their work stolen constantly. They don't care about being paid, but it pisses them off when someone likes their work enough to repost it without the basic decency to post the whole thing.

    Beep is a bad netizen.

  • I bet that was amazing!

  • Ooh, I found a production that a college uploaded to YouTube! I very much prefer to see an opera live, but I'd already accepted that I would never see this production since it's probably pretty rare.

I'll definitely give it a watch, thanks for the rec!

  • I've been wanting to catch an Othello for years now. I'll see it one of these days!

  • I mean, if you're going to go to one show...

  • I don't really mind cheeseyness; it shows vulnerability in the author and performers.

Star Trek is undeniably cheesey, but there's an earnestness that comes with it that makes it compelling.
