They need to both signal that they're largely on board for Trump's remaking of the federal government and that they're reliable billionaire bootlickers. What's a reactionary judge who isn't bound by laws, ethics, precedent, responsibility, fairness, or reality to do?
If he won't do the most obvious economic move at the State level then why should he be trusted to do it at the national level?
Not to mention his normalizing of fascists on his podcast. Why would a Democrat platform Steve Bannon or Newt Gingrich or Dr. Phil or Anthony Scaramucci or Michael Savage or Charlie Kirk (rest in piss)?

He's still constantly espousing the racist "great replacement" theory, and his political project is to bring more people into the reactionary tent. For now, that means being critical of Israel, but that's only because he sees which way the wind is blowing.
