  • It's also relatively stable apparently. Even if the packages are more recent.

    It's just the community support and the occasional broken package dependencies that could be a problem.

    And yeah Tumbleweed comes with Snapper by default and it's configured in a way not supported by timeshift. Which I wish I could use to easily plan images or make manual ones before I fuck up while trying something.

    I turned my hobby into a career and now I fucking hate it. Soulless evil billionaires turned it into a fucking dystopia machine. I really can't see any exit from this other than changing my entire field. But, no other field I could work into would pay my mortgage and enable me to afford food.

  • I like KDE Plasma because it uses the same old Desktop paradigm that we've all been used to for decades, which GNOME doesn't have. I really hate its default desktop. I feel it's missing too many features.

    What I DO love about GNOME is the limited configurations. (Yeah, I know. Super weird coming from a Linux or KDE user.) I find KDE has WAY too many customizations to a fault. GNOME is more focused. I really enjoyed using GNOME 2 and MATE. It was just perfect.

    With the proper extensions, GNOME can be a great Desktop. The best example I can think of is Zorin OS. They really did a great job of customizing it into a more standard experience.

    But when a desktop environment needs so many extensions to make it (in my opinion) useable, then the environment is a failure. KDE Plasma is ready to go out of the box.

    Again, that's my opinion. You don't have to agree with it.

    Our successive conservative/neo-liberal governments have been getting our public services, including health-care, for decades now.

    Getting appointments for anything is near impossible. To go to a walk-in emergency clinic now requires an appointment, if you can get one. Once you have a reference to a specialist, it takes over one year to get an appointment.

    However, the government, in alliance with a private company, have set up websites where you cab easily get appointments in the private sector near immediately or within 2 weeks. If you have a good job you're most likely to have private insurance to cover the fees up to 80%.

    Oh and the Canadian Medical Association, is in on the racket to privatize healthcare. And one of the largest Canadian corporations, Loblaws, who owns a major stake in the grocery and pharmacy business, started investing in the healthcare business as well.

    As soon as we got public single payer healthcare, capitalism has been sabotaging it constantly to the benefit of the private industry.
