  • I had a neighbor who lost a cat to his own backyard for two months. He never saw it and assumed it was gone for good, but kept putting out food and assumed he was just feeding birds and coyotes.

Then he moved some firewood and she'd just been living her best life in there.

  • It still thinks "The Economist" is 'Least Biased'.

MBFC equates political centrism as being unbiased, which is fundamentally flawed.

  • Piefed has a shadowban/defederation tool. Like, I can post in piefed.social communities but they don't federate for anyone to see except for the individual user responded to. It's a way of moderating without it showing up in modlogs.

  • I think the point there is that the random opinions are valid because they are just opinions. Either they're based on wrong or incomplete information or they aren't. If you can get past that hurdle the discourse can offer corrections or fill in the blanks.

The arguments being made either have merit or they don't. The ones with merit would approach that truth you mentioned, and the ones that don't obscure it. If that makes any sense.

  • This begs the question of just who you think is being hurt.

  • Man I wish we had communism on our shores.

  • whether you prefer the original localization of Final Fantasy Tactics or the later one with flowery archaic dialog.

I wager this comes down to just one single line of dialogue: "Blame yourself or God."

  • Modlog says the reason was "spammer" without any other info. They made 2 other threads elsewhere talking about or advertising a game they made, which were deleted, likely by the same mod who just banned them.

  • The design is very tree.

  • Nothing like FMLA to signal your employer to scrutinize the minutia of your job performance.

  • I don't know if it's specifically from the Ms Rachel show, but the clip is from when she and Zohran met up and sang to kids in a New York elementary school around his inauguration.

  • Yes, and 'pressure' is used similarly. Think atmospheric pressure. It can lower and heighten, so a lack of pressure is low pressure, not the absence of it.

  • Tl:dr = Because they haven't. Yet. Maybe. As far as we know.

I think you've described it quite well. That's just evolutionary biology. Any adaptation requires some kind of pressure behind it.

  • In America, liberalism is called leftism, leftism is called fascism, and fascism is called bipartisan common-sense politics.

The nuances between Social democracy and Democratic socialism never stands a chance in public discourse.

  • I can't speak for all cats, as in felines, but domesticated house cats that humans keep as pets are derived from a desert cat originally. Not many desert fish for their digestive systems to have adapted to.

  • To add: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steppe_Route

Nomadic peoples existed withinn throughout, and in between sedentary cultures. The sedentary people recorded history and developed writing, while the nomads spread language and technology between them.

  • I actually think it's the opposite that's needed. An anonymized shitposting tier of fediverse interaction ala the chan imageboards.

There's so many meme shitposting communities that there could just be dedicated and anonymized band of federation that is specialized to deal only in memes.

  • Kibble was 'invented' during ww2 as a way to get around shortages on metal for canning. But it's essentially pemmican with below human grade standards. Works fine for dogs, manages to work well enough for cats to survive, so an industry was born even when the material shortages ended.
