  • Open standard W

  • I gotcha, thanks for sharing. It's cool hearing from people who are so far away!

  • I wanted to go with a pi for my HTPC but I have a Plex server and all my movies are full bitrate 4k files straight from the UHD blurays and the pi couldn't handle that bitrate. Ended up building a small ITX PC with my old PC hardware and a new Intel A380 gpu.

I'm so thankful intel is doing their best to enter the discreet GPU market. Such banger cards for so little.

  • That's crazy! If you don't mind me asking what do you typically do on your machine and how much time do you spend on it?

I'm just curious because I spend a lot of time on my PC and can only imagine how horrible all the stuff I do would be on that hardware lol

  • "AI heavily increased GPU prices" Nvidia one of the greediest companys around increased the prices of GPUs, not necessarily AIs fault because nvidia is in direct control of their card prices.

Take a look at Intel's new GPUs, they are actually priced in a way that isn't fist fucking the consumer.

  • I still order from them although it's definitely gotten worse and the website feels like It was designed exclusively by the marketing team and high-up executives instead of web engineers.

Honestly, I typically gravitate towards Amazon over Newegg these days, but Newegg does have a lot more options for computer hardware, so I still order from them. I just ordered an ITX motherboard and SFX power supply from newegg yesterday actually because amazom didn't have the products I wanted.

  • As it should be

  • Things aren't always black and white. It could turn out to be an okay intermediate. I'm not too mad about the loss of competition here because there are quite a few new EV makers that are attempting to succeed in the market.

  • Open source standards are the only thing that can save us from these savages

  • I 100% agree with you, I actually don't think parents should be legally allowed to homeschool unless they get a real teaching education themselves

  • I stopped watching TV at 18 when I moved out of my parents house and never bought TV myself, I never will

  • But this doesn't sound like that. This sounds like a model that is using external tools made by humans like Khan Academy to actually do the teaching and just uses the AI model to process how well the person doing the course is understanding it.

I would be willing to bet serious money that a kid in this program would get a better education than a homeschooler, Because exactly like your earlier point, the vast majority of homeschool parents that teach their kids are fucking morons and only have their kids homeschooled because they're fucking morons.

  • Preach! I just finished a long DIY remodel and running ethernet to everyroom was less than a $100 in cable and connectors. Obviously it was easier and cheaper for me because I already had a lot of the drywall down.

Either way such a good point you make, people will drop 1k on a phone no questions asked but a few hundred is too much to get the best home upgrade a tech enthusiast could ever ask for.

  • I feel like that sentiment is easily reached by anyone who is curious and likes to learns, so a lot of people.

  • 100% It boggles my mind that very apparent compression artifacts don't bother the average consumer.

I guess if you don't know what it is, you can't realize it is a flaw.

  • ¯(ツ)/¯ piracy is better anyway, I want full bitrate digital copies not compressed garbage.

Such a shame high bitrate full quality movies/TV shows will semi fade away as these asshole companies only stream their movies at 7 gigs an hour and never release physical media.

  • End to end encrypted, I think chat control is all about client-side scanning so the app being open source is a big deal and would prevent client-side scanning because even if they build in client-side scanning, it's open source and people can remove it.

  • I saw that video when I was in middle school and found out later in my teens that song was about that headshot. It's a good song.
