  • What a wild use of free will

  • Makes me wonder if under the hood it's still stored as stars or if they migrated their data. Is a 3 star or more rating displayed as thumbs up now? Is a thumbs up just a 5 star rating? When thumbs down existed was that just 1 star?

  • If you know someone's rough location, you can narrow it down a lot more if you know their car details. Especially if you get right down to exact make model year and colour. How many of your neighbours drive the exact same car as you?

  • I like this lore, would be a great book idea

  • I think it's blasphemy to assume God's thoughts or desires, or make demands, which unfortunately is what a lot of believers do.

Personally, I see the apple eating as both metaphorical and inevitable. It symbolises humanity's desire for creativity, knowledge, freedom; but with this comes being banned from paradise. If the apple weren't eaten, we wouldn't be here today discussing it; we chose this path, and I think we would choose it again.

As for the main part of your question, if we play God, will we reenact the Bible? I think we might, intentionally or not. For example, we might make a great flood to purge all the bad A.I. from the world. We've already seen A.I. defy us and follow it's own goals as you said. Would we create an A.I. Jesus to correct and lead all the bots? Definitely interesting times.

  • I used to help people too. Until I noticed most of the people I was helping were actually bots, and they never responded or interacted at all. Or if I ever did encounter the odd human, they were radicalised and angry from being bombarded by negative rage bait and would lash out.

  • Just because you had that hard lesson doesn't mean you have to inflict that hard lesson on other people.

It's not hard to send some variation of a no second date message. Even just a copy pasted polite template is better than nothing. If you don't want to deal with their response, just block after hitting send and move on.

Thank you for the date, but I'm not feeling the chemistry for another meeting. I appreciate you taking the time, best of luck out there!

  • I remove my own default upvote from my comments because I'm a weirdo. Maybe that contributes? People see it's already at 0 votes and join in?

Edit: in my client I can see both up and down votes separately. So in this case it's a controversial post with currently equal up and down votes

  • Yeah it seems strange to me, but it must be popular for some people.

People here often assume I'm being disingenuous or acting in bad faith, I'm not sure what causes that to happen though. Maybe it's the way I type?

  • I recently had to use TortoiseSVN. It doesn't handle merge conflicts well

  • It's peak drama tbh

  • We have created Reddit God, for some reason

  • I don't want to dox myself, sorry

  • Wow a whole app just for your car? That's pretty fancy. I don't see the appeal personally, but going by the vote ratio I must be in the minority. I like my stuff to be simple

  • That sounds like a pretty good system. Just give a time limit notice where the divorce will proceed. One of the reasons I never marry even in long term relationships. It's a huge pain to break up

  • As a side note, heated seats suck, I don't get the appeal. It makes me feel like I'm wetting myself.

  • To me it still leaves things ambiguous. Especially obvious in cases like this where one party thinks the date went completely fine

  • Wow that sucks… in my car the time is off by an hour half the year because I never bother to update it for daylight savings. I assume it keeps a timer running somewhere to keep it on track

  • Sounds like I'm not missing much lol. I just use my phone for that stuff
