  • There's apparently actually an organized (but dubious) political philosophy in multiparty democracies, but I was using it (perhaps incorrectly) to refer to out and proud centrists eager to fight the good fight in service of the belief that actually nothing can change and the establishment is doing great.

  • I think "can a woman win" with be a popular attack by centrists in the primary. Same thing they did with Warren when she was briefly leading. They'll yas queen the shittiest empty pantsuits and cheer minority voices right up until the woman or minority is progressive, then they'll JAQ off incessantly about whether they can win the vote of their MAGA uncle who was never going to vote Democrat in the first place. And if they don't have a MAGA uncle they'll imagine one to wring their hands over.

    AOC can win, but the centrists are going to do a lot of "I'm not sexist, but" the whole primary and try to get a bunch of normies to become political pundits and vote for someone who says nothing "because it's electable".

  • Cross party governors are a very different thing than cross party senators. Massachusetts and California have both had Republican governors and at no point did that indicate the state was turning red. Cross party governors can be seen as outsiders that will pump the brakes on a single party establishment legislature.

    Beshear has been in office through a couple Senate elections and they were still Republican blowouts.

  • A few years ago we were rightfully saying that Trump dining with this Nazi shitstain was beyond the pale for even him and it was bad enough Trump actually went into damage control mode. Now liberal spaces are celebrating their new king of shitposting finding common ground with him.

    His feud with Trump is nice insofar as infighting among the bad guys is cool, but no one needs to celebrate anything he says or pretend like we've converted a new ally. We don't need to rehabilitate the worst people alive just because they have temporarily become anti-Trump.

  • Did whoever checks candidate eligibility just go with Waters' wild interpretation of the term limits? Feels like this should have started at "no" and had a long shot challenge by Waters to overrule it, but instead the system dicked around until ballots were already out and now the ruling gets messy.

    Feels like more of our bureaucratic and legal systems just not being functional due to time constraints and not acting with appropriate preparation or haste.

  • Yeah, there's a non-zero chance the NYPD just goes rogue if ordered to do something they don't want to do, especially if there's an excuse of it potentially being illegal.

And this seems to be targeted at a specific Olive Garden program because while it's not a common occurrence, I've been to an Olive Garden and unless I was ordering alcohol I didn't need an ID. I assume this Pasta Pass exists, but I have to imagine this just seems nonsensical to most people. If you need that much explaining for your new talking point to explain how it works, it's not good.

  • I vaguely like him and think he's charismatic but I'm not sure that translates into a candidate valuable enough to risk them coming into office with -1 Senate seats.

    If he were some uniquely extraordinary political force that could meaningfully move Democratic and national politics maybe it'd be different, but he's just kind of moderately progressive and moderately talented. I'm not even sure if he's the best senator from Georgia.
