  • Simpler said than done. Of course I agree with you, but we need deeper changes in our society, in our behaviour as people. If you get told time and time again, that you're worthless, can't achieve anything etc. that's going to leave a mark. Sure, encouraging to not let that dominate one's thoughts is a useful skill. But it shouldn't be necessary in the first place.

  • I hope they feel welcomed here to stick around. I've quit Reddirt in 2023 during the API exodus, came to Lemmy and never looked back.

  • "Hey look! I'm on the news!"

Well, better a stupid teenager than a stupid adult. There is hope. Not much, but a little at least.

  • Yupp, and that's sadly a product of capitalism. For example, low load industrial robot arms with a default set of software can be bought extremely cheap nowadays. What the capitalist sees is not a robotic utopia, where people are freed from work and get to enjoy life more, but a labour force which is cheaper and more reliable than humans. They have no interest in making the world a better place. They just want to maximize profits.

Legislation worldwide is missing crucial time to find and enforce solutions for this.

Technology can be so beautiful, magical and immensely helpful to us. If we use it right. But given our current system, this is unfortunately barely the case.

  • FTFY: *10 reasons to avoid capitalism

If it's not Amazon, it's another shitty company which exploits everyone and everything to maximize profits without regard to the well-being of humanity and life itself.

We need fundamental, systemic changes which grab those malpractices by their roots and rip them out. Our life will not get better if we continue to allow corporations like Amazon to exist.

Purge them from the face of the earth. Life is too precious to be sacrificed for the sake of greed and corporate dominance. A new paradigm must emerge, one that values people over profits and prioritizes the health of our planet. We need to foster a society built on mutual respect, fairness, and sustainability, where every individual has the opportunity to thrive. Only then can we hope to create a future that benefits all of humanity instead of a few.

  • Conservatism has become quite the unfitting term. Retrogressivism might be more suitable.

  • Looks a lot like the moldovian Vertuta. I bet they taste similar.

  • Rendered in EEVEE? Really? Wow! Considering you get so much more optical fidelity with Cycles it's really astonishing they've used EEVEE.

  • Good point comma!

Unlike metric, there isn't an international standard for this.

There is one, ISO 80000‑1. But it specifically allows commas and points. Which doesn't resolve the confusion. We really should adhere to one single standard for this.

I'll be more cautious now, when writing such numbers in English. Thanks for pointing commaing that out!

  • To conform with SI unit prefixes. Which is a good thing imo.

But according to Wiki the IEC defined those binary prefixes in 1999. And I find it problematic that so few still don't know about this and don't adhere to that standard. Even fellow engineers don't use it correctly. No wonder companies like Microsoft also still use it wrong. This keeps things confusing.

  • "I really hope, I am AI. That would mean I am not part of this stupid species."

    Good enough?

  • We believe delivering Nokia’s 4G/LTE system to the lunar surface is a transformative moment in the commercialization of space and the maturity of the lunar economy.

    .... I fucking hate capitalism.

  • Yes you read that right: BYTES, not KB, MB, or GB: 1024 BYTES

1024 Bytes are 1 Kibibyte or 1,024 Kilobytes.

  • These look like toilet paper rolls.

  • *Disnep

  • "That's not going to do anything" They said, sitting on their asses, doing nothing, while others fought for change.

You can find this style of argument in virtually all discussions about protests and about whether they are okay or even effective.

Idk & idgaf, but you can't deny, that this makes the whole issue a lot more visible than just doing nothing.

  • Well at least they communicate such findings openly and don't try to hide them. Other than ExxonMobil who saw global warming coming due to internal studies since the 1970s and tried to hide or dispute it, because it was bad for business.
