It didn't claim that gun availability is a reason for recently increased rates, but a part of the reason men in (rural) US have and have (always had) higher rates than non-men and non-US. This is true in many places outside US as well. Combined with the complete taboo and unwillingness to understand plus the horrible toxicity you see in some of these comments as well, it's no wonder people (who might need it) don't get help.
They'll be happy to charge you for all mail forwarded to your home country, any costs incurred, and a little handling charge at the hotel. No extra effort needed, they already have your credit card and photo id.
