Cowardice and AI gets insta-blocked. Not reading your excuses.

Which American are you?

  1. "I already [describes basic-ass participation in democracy]! What do you expect me to DOOO?"
  2. “We can’t fight back because then the Nazis will take the opportunity to punish us harder”
  3. “it’s not as EASY as you seem to think”
  4. “Yeah, well what have YOU done??”
  5. “Did you not see the VERY effective and not-at-all-a-huge-joke No Kings protests?”
  6. “Keyboard warrior!”
  7. “I can’t have principles, I might lose the shitty job I hate!”
  8. “I believe that every historical revolutionary to whom I owe my prosperity was a Disney character with no family or livelihood at stake and who never really had to risk anything because in my child-brain their victory was guaranteed.”

  • Everyone has a job. You aren’t special.

Attending city council meetings and raising awareness are things you should be doing in the BEST of times. That’s called participation in democracy. If you think that’s all that’s called for right now in the US, I don’t know what to tell you.

  • Americans simply don't give a shit.

No, whiny clown about to reply, I don't care if you're "one of the good ones." You STILL don't give a shit.

  • Why would it? They get what they want, they’re steamrolling the country, and everyone continues to allow it. Why change a strategy that has benefited them over and over?

  • Correct

  • Man, I love that Lemmy has a “label” function

  • A child who has the presence of mind to make it 10 pages into either of those books is ready to have the important conversations that come with the territory.

That goes for books in general.

  • You’re coming out of this looking like an absolute clown. I hope you don’t have kids- and if you do, I’m sure you’ll soon be wondering why they resent you.

  • Fuck US citizens for allowing the federal government to do it, you mean.

  • Not only that- the “resistance” only gets shitty and defensive when you point out their failure to resist.

  • How about you let publicly funded libraries be libraries and you worry about your own kids?

  • This innocent-until-proven-guilty guy is never going to get a fair trial. His biggest supporters are constantly like, "yeah, he totally shot that guy."

  • You’re doing an excellent job of illustrating why your country is where it is. What is it with Americans being fundamentally incapable of accepting criticism?

  • No, keep going.

Keep getting defensive and illustrating exactly why they’re steamrolling you. Don’t stop. It’s already clear enough to me, but I think it’s useful that other people see the mindset that’s keeping US liberals from stopping MAGA.

  • Oh, okay. You’re doing all you can, yeah? Not at all mistaking cowardice for helplessness? Nah. Couldn’t be. Weird how your whole country dined out for a couple centuries on the myth of being REALLY good at fighting tyranny against great odds. It’s almost like you made it your entire deal and used it as a cudgel against those who suggested you weren’t living up to your stated ideals. Huh.

  • You have more access than most people in the world to firearms. Glass bottles are cheap, and gasoline, while increasing in price, is relatively still inexpensive

  • Starting in season two.

  • Jesus Christ. The US is absolutely boned.

  • It's a "shitty people" problem.
