  • Build a media stick out of something like a pi seems like the only option? I wouldn't want to deal with that though and I'm not aware of anyone selling a plug-n-play ready options like that unfortunately.

  • We've gone beyond just linear extrapolation. Great hobby!

  • Unfortunately. At least for work-purposes.

  • Oracle is building one of there several plans and even that one is gonna be years behind schedule. The rest are hardly more than a slab of concrete right now. So forget parting out computer hardware, they barely even have more than a couple of new buildings to sell off and so much debt that cannot possibly be paid because it depends on openAI suddenly having astronomical increases in revenue to even finish the existing plans.

Other players might be further ahead but I suspect the biggest gain for the gaming hardware market will simply be the cancelation of supposed contracts to buy up things like RAM and the drying up of money to buy AI-specific GPUs, forcing NV to actually care a tiny bit about the gaming segment again.

  • Isn't OP asking why not 8-12 hour shifts instead of 16-24 hour shifts though. Probably not suggesting more days either.

  • Did they try to explain the high production of such a reactive gas via abiotic methods?

  • Perhaps you paid x10 extra to get it without ads?

  • "We did nothing wrong. The voters were wrong!"

  • I meant a mixture of 4/5 (like HIIT-style, I guess?) and part of the point was agreement that if you strictly care about calories burned, dialing down the intensity is increasing the time is far better if you aren't limited primarily by time. Still can be fun trying to chase the 1000 calories/hour burn rate even if its not effective.

  • if your aim is to use a lot of energy, dialing down the intensity significantly and working for a longer time is the way to go basically all cardio machines at the gym are going to be boring as all hell, going outside and doing activities is a lot more fun

If you are having enough fun, even high-intensity can be maintained far longer than you'd think possible when doing something that's engaging. Still, spending 1 hour in zone 4-5 is probably gonna burn less calories than a 1.5 hour workout centered on zone 3.

cardio as a means of losing weight has a downside in that vigorous exercise provokes a lot of hunger. make sure to combine with small sustainable changes in diet for best results

But what if you just work out so intensely, that you're too tired to eat? Its funny to me that the body can have like a 4K calorie deficit for the day and still just be like "No food. That's a problem for tomorrow. Sleep now." Probably a case where ignoring your body is a good idea.

  • You would be correct. Not that a helmet would have done anything; haven't hit my head from a bike accident since I was a child. I wear one now, but since I've started breaking bones from bike accidents.

Feels like a journey telling the story too. Feels like I'm telling the story of a stranger 😂

  • No. Eventually I got into some accident. Wasn't even raining that day as far as I know. Literally have no clue what kind of accident or exactly where (just which classes it was between): I got a concussion and I had no memories of it even a few hours later based on texts I sent a friend asking why my mouth was bleeding. Anyways, the bike was beat-up enough that I just replaced it despite it getting me around campus for a while after that.

  • I remember sometimes when I'd "crash" my bike between classes in college (actually just using concrete walls as an emergency brake because it was raining and my brakes weren't maintained). From there until I finished the ride, I'd feel like the world was grey-scale and I was observing myself finishing the task of getting to my destination. I'd feel like it was stupid that the person in the body continued biking despite the non-functional brakes without making any changes how they were riding, but my conscious mind had no say in the matters, a prisoner to whatever stupidity the body chose to do. Fortunately that would go away shortly after parking the bike.

Without any acute triggers, I also just often felt like an outside observer in things or things would feel like a dream. That was a pretty normal experience.

After realizing I was dealing with DPDR, any time I had any minor change to my routine (like switching commuting method, changing work shifts, etc), I'd feel like I was suddenly plopped into the body I possessed and the memories of that body had been forced onto me and I had to pretend to try to be them because that's what was expected. Granted, given I haven't had that issue in about 2 years, at least I got that fixed.

Being self-aware just makes it worse.

  • I thought of Rika Nonaka from Digimon when I saw her.

  • I thought nuclear was slow to ramp up and down and basically has to operate 24/7, providing a baseload. Batteries otoh are the quickest source to respond to surges from my understanding. Renewables+batteries are have been cheap enough for years that they're also good for baseload.

  • 118 pure genders (each with subtypes, like 55Fe and 57Fe). Then there's the near-infinite number of compound genders!
