  • I loved it, I had a lot of tasks that would only require intervention every few minutes so I could initiate a task and then go start laundry or something. At the end of the day I was actually free and not just bogged down with more chores. The biggest drawback was not being around coworkers that I actually liked but that same coin meant I didn't have to be around people I didn't like.I think if I took another remote job I'd put more effort into having a 3rd place.

  • It looks like you may have thought the potato was locked in there with you but actually you might be locked in there with the potato.

  • mate?

  • I've always liked the idea of a rando being in events with the worlds best so we can get an idea of how much better the pros are than average. I'm down to be that rando in any event, I'll give it everything I've got. Once.

  • Have 2 sets of goals, one set is measurable and achievable near term, this can be as simple as going to bed on time or doing one proper pushup or saving $5 this week. The other set of goals are for your dreams or ambitions, have something in mind worth fighting for, they don't have a set timeline and you may not ever reach them but if you do you've accomplished your life goals or set up the future so someone else can get there. The important part is to have the goals and start to figure our what steps you need to get there.Don't feel guilty about just enjoying life, if you enjoy getting your guilty pleasure just drop the guilt part, that's not to say go ahead and spiral out of control but you are allowed to enjoy things that are within your reach.People will offer to help you with stuff. fucking let them help you, people like to feel needed and feel better when they get to help you, stop feeling guilty about accepting help. you are letting them help so that they feel good about themselves and you might accidentally form bonds with other humans. It is ok to be bored, healthy even. Do absolutely nothing once in a while, no music, no phone, no background noise. Just let your mind wander and decompress. I use my evening commute for this, except on science friday, imma learn about some shit on fridays, like how it is ok to be bored sometimes.

Still promising, but you can almost always append "in mice" to these kinds of headlines.

  • It's Cheryl! You're not my supervisor!

  • You skipped this part:

Echoing a statement from the American College of Radiology after the study's release, she stressed that the study's projection of cancer diagnoses from CT scans was based on statistical modeling, not actual patient outcomes.

There are no published studies directly linking CT scans to cancer, the statement says. "Americans should not forgo necessary, life-saving medical imaging and continue to discuss the benefits and risks of these exams with their healthcare providers," it continues.

You can tell whatever story you want from statistics, it could be that people that get CT scans have a higher chance of getting a cancer diagnosis because they are getting medical care and others just go undiagnosed.

The point isn't that CT scans cause cancer, that was always a risk with any ionizing radiation. The point is that radiation exposure from CT scans varies wildly based on the operator and you should do what you can to reduce your exposure, but don't skip a CT because of a scary headline.

  • LinkedIn lunatics can't understand this. If your whole work culture revolves around who you network with and how your profile looks and not mutual respect then I am happy to work for someone else. Honestly the people that crave power the most are almost always the ones that should not be in charge of anything. I'm fortunate to have an awesome job and totally understand you might need to take a shit job just to get by but the lunatics don't understand that it doesn't have to be this way.

  • other than the alleged cause of death I don't know why this is in hacker news.

  • I would forget I set this up and not fix the problem for a while. Honestly seems like a win if the boss can't tell.

  • I hate spreading conspiracy theories but wasn't there a white house leak a while back about a "betrayal"? I don't see any reliable sources but Trump and in particular Netanyahu are weirdly in front of the narrative, like down to the minute. Now I hear that the "trans marks" on the ammo was actually just a Turkish manufacturer's marks. Idk how common that ammo is in the US, or if the weapon they found is confirmed to be the actual weapom used. I guess we'll have to wait for more info to come out.

  • You don't have to do this, sparky linux is free to download.
