  • I've saved a lot of money and I have income insurance coverage for a bit over a year. This combined should keep me afloat for a long time

  • If you get a push notification on your phone, everything you see in that notification must by definition pass through the push notification service.

This is immediately disprovable by anyone who has ever implemented push notifications on Android

  • If I had to guess, you're in need of building up your aerobic base. To do this you're going to want to aim for having more time on your feet, which of course is tricky since it feels so heavy for you at the moment (I've been there).

The key insight for me was that I needed to decrease my intensity during runs. 80% of your runs should be at an easy pace, which is defined as a rate of perceived exertion (RPE) of 4/10 or less.

When I started adopting this, it felt like I was running at an annoyingly slow pace. For some people, it might even mean that you don't run continuously during your sessions, and instead do a mix of running and walking (X minutes on, X minutes off).

  • Anthropic's uptime website is actually one of the funniest jokes of this year

  • I used to have a TV in my bedroom a very long time ago, but it had very negative impacts on my sleep. I can't recommend it.

  • Most hardware is only really true if you account for older hardware in circulation, most new hardware will be shipping hardware decoder support for AV1.

On top of this, the software decoder support is remarkable for AV1, libdav1d is a marvelous piece of software, bringing access to a plethora of devices lacking hardware decoder support.

  • This is only really true if you have extreme throughput requirements, a regular VOD operation can get by fine on software encoding.

If you have the kind of throughput needs that warrant hardware encoders you're going to want to go ASIC anyway, so regular server hardware won't cut it. Like YouTube for example had to build their own ASICs because of the downright absurd scale they are running at

  • Phone, keys, wallet, earphones, key card for work if I'm likely to want to enter the office.

  • The inverse is true as well for Kotlin being supported on iOS.

  • For heating I'd guess it can still be relevant. As a means of producing electricity though? Yeah

  • Yes

  • Naturally.

You should still probably not use dangerously-skip-permissions, though.

  • I've worked at several places where I've been able to access production databases.

No need to be so dramatic about it, really.

  • Dangerously-skip-permission is carte blanche for the model to do whatever it pleases with your system. If you happen to have access to a production database on your system, then the model also has access to it, should you use that option.

  • I do! I've done some DIY repairs on it several times. It's a Roborock S5. I've had to replace the lidar motor and the charging station, but it's still going strong.

  • I've had a robot vacuum since 2018, and it's still going strong.

It's easily in the top 5 of best purchases I've ever made

  • I'm already practically speaking living free of fossil fuels -

    • For transportation, I only really bike and take transit
    • The heating in my apartment is district heating
    • The electricity grid in Sweden is all but entirely free of fossil fuels

So there's not really that much more to be done.
