    2. it's like BMI: fine for applying to a large population, but breaks down when looking at an individual
    3. even if useful at the individual level, "dark triad" indicates three traits but says nothing about the balance between them, e.g., a high mach and a low narc pairing will looking very different than two high machs.

    IMO it is not useful to oversimplify any single relationship down to "two dark triads".

    Emphasis mine. Most of the weight is born by platforms that the humans are obscuring the view of. Look at the postures of each tier; none are braced for any significant weight.

  • Yeah, HireVue. My company uses them for some job postings at the discretion of the hiring manager.

    In general I don't like them. I've seen some job postings that get literally hundreds of applicants though, so I get the company would look for ways to process that many more efficiently. I also think it would be difficult for a hiring manager not to judge an applicant on "video presence", hardly a skill that is top of the priority list for most jobs.

    If AI sorting of videos is available I've not seen my company use that feature. To my knowledge, all videos are reviewed by humans. From a previous Lemmy posting about HireVue, I also learned it can be set to only allow one attempt at recording and answering a question, or unlimited.

    I kinda think of it as an escalating arms race. Companies put filters in place for resumes. Applicants found tools that aid them in mass applying with a single click. Companies add more filters like HireVue now to deal with the flood of applicants. Applicants are replying by declining or posting to GitHub or whatever.

  • I wouldn't in the US right now. Look at the SAVE act, which if passed would block a person from voting if their name doesn't match what's on their birth certificate.

    Under the current administration, women should seriously think before taking their partners name if getting married. Folks like you, OP, should weigh the trouble of legally changing your name versus just introducing yourself by a nickname.

  • I can't smell bad milk either. Also can't taste it.

    I learned just how bad it was when I polished off a bowl of cereal, made a bowl up for my Person with the same milk I'd just consumed, and they spit it out thinking I was playing an awful "prank" on them. I had to convince and demonstrate that no, I can't detect spoiled milk until it's visibly bad.

  • I'm in the same boat; I can't smell spoiled milk. Partially that, partially I don't really like dairy milk that much, I drink plant-based milks now. When I open a new container I mark the date on it with a sharpie. Then I throw out any remainder after 14 days (or whatever the bottle says plus some).

    Folks, this is an app worthy of the few bucks to unlock features and support the developer.

  • I use Voyager. Lockout specs for me when selecting an app were ability to apply a custom tag to users, and firmly holding my default view/sort settings.

    I started on Boost for Lemmy after using Boost for Reddit. But I was having some issues with it and it's not actively updated anymore. Not sure if the creator is done with the project or just busy with something else, but I just checked and it still shows the last app update was in July 2024.

  • I don't scambait in general. One, I have so many options for entertainment that give me more joy than responding to scammers. Two, I assume much like robo phone calls, the initial communication itself isn't the scam, it's to see who responds so their contact info can be put on a list for further targeting.
