Victim of Communism

  • Republicans will get him across the finish line without Fetterman, Collins, or Murkowski.

Without McConnell, I guess they're going into it with exactly 50 votes. Shame Dems are so incompetent at obstruction that they couldn't drag out the Lindsey replacement long enough for another Republican to fall down a flight of stairs.

  • It gets better. The candidate who won had dropped out to campaign for the candidate who came in 3rd place.

Literally zero useful polling done in this race. And they're going into the general against a Dem incumbent during a blue wave year, so it hardly matters either way.

  • When we all know the request and the button both won't actually do anything, feels silly to ask.

  • In fairness, Texas didn't normally see sub-zero winter weather, even before climate change started ratcheting things up.

But also, that statewide prolonged blackout was more the consequence of poorly constructed gas generator plants trying to squeeze the wholesale price of electricity in the state. They waited so long to turn on that their un-weathered pipes froze. And then the strain on the grid took down tens of millions in infrastructure.

But don't worry. The state bailed out all the corporate entities and guaranteed a bunch of grant money for weatherizing, so that rigging the wholesale electricity markets will never cause this kind of tragedy to happen again.

Also, funnily enough, we've had a bumper crop of solar and wind power since then. And the fact that we can't toggle these power sources on and off has neutered a lot of the profit-squeezing that gas plants used to exploit.

  • If datacenters were losing money at $0.07/kwh on the grid, wait until they're spending $.33/kwh (15 kwh per $5 gal) before you even factor in the price of the diesel generator hardware and maintenance.

Half the joke of those Grok server farms in Mississippi is how ludicrously expensive they are to operate. Elon is paying a premium to ruin local livelihoods.

  • A lot of that AC usage comes down to poor insulation, older and poorly maintained units, single family housing, overly large housing, vacant housing that still needs to be cooled to keep it from deteriorating before someone can cover the inflated asset price, the need to insulate offices separately from housing because we've abolished work-from-home rules...

A well-maintained stock of publicly accessible homes in dense mixed-use walkable neighborhoods, with a professionally managed building-wide AC unit, could reduce the per-capita electricity demand enormously.

But instead, we've queued up billions of dollars in concrete and steel to build city-sized warehouses for scorching hot chipsets.

  • Remember, if they've got a gun and you've got a gun, then the guns cancel each other out and you're both perfectly safe.

  • And proceeds to sit down and start cleaning his own gun with his date’s dad.

Love to send my little girl off on her first night out with some chode packing heat. What could go wrong?

  • A pair of wire cutters work just as well. And they're a lot quieter.

  • A tiny back office with half a dozen industry plants will be told to produce one high profile case every six to twelve months.

  • A trick Reddit was pioneering all the way back in the late '00s. Drive engagement by using bots to fake engagement.

  • And it'll happen to you, too!

  • Deep enough to cover your nose and lips, at a minimum.

  • Right. It's still a home server setup. Unless, I guess, you've got some kind of cloud service you can pipe the data in from. But then you're regressing to #1.

  • It was. Clinton found the middle ground between civil rights and fascist repression was to punish anyone who talked about the issue.

But he wasn't president forever. The Rumsfeld Pentagon put a different spin on it.

  • You know he ran against Bush the I and Bob Dole, right.

Then worked hand-in-glove with Phil Graham and Larry Pressler to dismantle the US regulatory state, sure.

And she ran against the demented rapist crook.

How the Hillary Clinton campaign deliberately “elevated” Donald Trump with its “pied piper” strategy

But look - on voting day a competent liberal is better than an incompetent rapist sycophant, n’est-ce pas?

First show me some of the former. A congo line of Andrew Cuomos and Gavin Newsoms and Gretchen Whitmires and Bob Menendezes and Michael Flynns have not been kind to the liberal party over the last generation.

How many Democrats spent a decade sucking up to Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg for a bucket of money, back in the Obama Era? How many worked hand-in-glove with Amazon and Boeing and Palantir, in the name of economic growth? How many sat on the board of Walmart and Goldman Sachs and Ford Motor Company, while pretending a liberal populism?

At some point, you have to take the blinders off.

  • Reminds me of the Bad Old Days of Bush-Era "Don't Ask, Don't Tell". Ostensibly outside the bounds of military discipline, but heavily integrated into the politics of the various branches and divisions.

If you were useful enough, you'd be ignored. If you did anything to piss off a senior officer, or rival and ambitious peer, your gender and sexuality would immediately be weaponized against you.

That's before you get into hazing rituals designed to humiliate and degrade new recruits by conflating gender with weakness. Or the smears and slanders wherein the mere possibility of an accusation of deviancy incentivized extremes of chauvinism.
