Other interests include bicycles, bread making and DIY. I do own a 3D-printer and adore the Nintendo 3ds.

    But why does the distinction between "real-world adult material" and "creative, non-realistic", "artistic, animated works" that "do no harm" matter? Last time I checked, realistic adult material can be just as artistic, and the harm done by negligently letting children watch it seems comparable.

    Are they in favour of age verification for "uncreative, realistic" pornography, or is the real distinction just between real-life and online?

  • But the husband was called to get her off the table? Did she fall while the technician was away? Shouldn't there have been a 2nd person to supervise her, or is that too expensive? And she did help in trying to get him unstuck, so she could get up on her own then? How are there so many important details to this?

    That's it, as fun as it is to speculate, I think I'll reserve my judgement until after this has gone to court.

  • After reading another article: nope, necklace was just a huge locket on a chain. And the wife said "Keith, Keith, come help me up" which sound to me like:

    • wife was making a big fuss for no good reason (might have had a reason according to a 3rd article)
    • husband obeyed as any good husband would
    • technician didn't inform the husband that his wife would be carted out of the MRI room and failed to react fast enough

    If I was married and a bit dumber, I could probably also be lured to my death with my name being called out twice in that fashion. Really depends how good the signage was and how well the husband was informed.

  • Carrying a 9kg necklace seems a bit silly. Though I suppose "for weight training" could just as well mean something medical, like needing to build up muscle mass after an operation.

    What I need to know is: how is a man that was "not supposed to be in the room" specifically getting fetched by a technician to go into the room? I would have said "do not go past the antechamber" a dozen times on the way there. Did the wife calling out to him just turn off his brain, did the technician fail to inform him, or did they both not realise the metallic necklace was on him?

  • I'm in the "inner monologue" camp. Most of what I think materialises as thought words. I don't have to move anything in my throat to do that unlike OP though, I can think in words without mumbling to myself.

    But I know the voice can't be all. It's difficult for me to think in words while actively saying something, but I can have new thoughts while speaking. Sometimes, I get interrupted in thinking mid-sentence, but then I return to that sentence to finish it because... it's just satisfying? It's not that I learn anything new.

    I feel like I don't have very much imagination any more. Its hard to produce images in my mind, not impossible but I do have to concentrate - remembering images is easier.

    Weirdly, way harder to me: imagining a voice. Inner voice is what I sound like to myself, I can remember and replay songs and quotes as I heard them, but having any voice say anything is hard, especially female voices. Went through some examples in my head couldn't make anyone say anything - until I thought to make different tf2 mercs sing "Oh Canada", that somehow worked despite me definitely not having heard that before. Brains are weird.

  • Discord, YouTube and Twitch. Even if I don't count 1 because I don't really build any online presence, all 3 together probably count as having mainstream social media no matter how strict the definition.

  • For purely economic reasons, the less often I need to buy it, the more I allow myself to splurge.

    So vegetables and my go to drink I consume everyday are bought the absolute cheapest, but that spice blend for those veggies lasts me months so I really don't care if there's a cheaper alternative.

    Of course, expensiveness is measured per kg/litre, paying a bit more up front is always worth it if it means a lower price per kg (if you can consume it before it goes bad).

  • Fairly certain what you describe is what they meant with inflation proof, compared to a fixed price.

    In any case, I imagine most Patreon creators have over time adjusted their reward tiers, or gathered more Patreon supporters to keep up with how Inflation affects their costs, thus giving more to Patreon. Both the company and creators would benefit here.

    Instead, increasing the (average) percentage just helps the company at the cost of creators. To make their pay keep up with inflation, they still need to either increase the number of supporters or the price of rewards, so the company benefits doubly. Edit: forgot, this change is currently only for new creators. Existing accounts do not need to adjust their pricing (yet)

    There seem to be enough alternatives that only charge a 5% fee, so this might just lose Patreon money if enough Creators see this as a step too far.

  • As knowledge of sleep paralysis spread through the internet, people quickly memed on the concept of having your own demon that watches you sleep. Lot's of impact font memes beginning with "My paralysis demon... " changing this rather horrifying concept into just an imaginary friend or room mate.

    The joke here is that Debra's demon would rather spend time with that man, and Debra misjudged how close their "friendship" was. Like the awkward situation of realising one's best friend is best friends with someone else.

  • Ah, yes. Their "We found space whales on Nimbus!" video (about speculative Zoology of alien worlds), which was later titled "What actual aliens might look like" was something I could excuse. I don't consider claiming the impossible click-bait, but seeing the controversy, it was best they changed it.

    However, what I really hated was their ad for a "strange matter" vile/necklace (i forgor), not because they lied about it containing reality destroying elements, but because they did the "buy now because they'll never come back" trick. I consider manipulative sales tactics to be a greater sin than clickbait.

  • I believe discussion on this flares up now and then because it is an easy answer, tough decision.

    If you make this decision for others: of course this is the most ethical thing to do, the data isn't ambiguous.

    If you are yourself affected: Oof. Yes it might be better for society, but personally I value this and that, and I am but one and would rather wait on legislation before I do anything.

    We love to argue it because one side thinks experiencing it taints your view, the other that only reading data misses the point. Can be about indoor cats, vegan diets or pineapple on pizza, the argument itself never matters.
