  • You know what? I wouldn't put it past them.

  • Hard pass, I'm not filling my home with any additional gasses beyond the ones I'm farting out.

  • Not fishy or dried fish, we're talking pork sausage kind of a smell. Pure deli vibes RN.

  • Worst case: Someone’s got their heating way too high, they’re literally roasting themselves and you can smell that.

Oh God, there had better not be. I'm not a bloated corpse expert, but if that's what's been stinking up my place I'm going to have to leave for at least a week just to decompress from having huffed it in all day...

  • You joke but your comment brings to mind the reddit post where some guy was not only positive that stuff was missing from his (shared) apartment, but that one of the closets had become a room (or the opposite, I can't remember exactly). They followed up after a while to tell everyone that they had a brain tumour.

  • Remarkably apt for people who vote for a weak and ineffective political party, but maybe a little too on the nose considering the perennial nature of these grievances? It's a little like saying that the moronic shit-eaters who idolize politicians that spit in their faces are dissatisfied with the Republican party because of the tariffs' disastrous impact on already high inflation/ICE deporting their Latino wife/their nephew dying because he couldn't afford his insulin, etc. The two party dynamic overall, their internal dynamics, and the doltish domestic/foreign policies of American politics have been such shit for so long that it's like commenting that people who live in monsoon zones are unhappy with the excessive rainfall that swept everything they own into a river & killed their entire neighbour's family - it happened four years ago, it's going to happen again in four years, nothing will change.

  • That's part of the problem, I can't even begin to figure out who or what to follow. I'm not kidding about the part where I browsed the random feed; there was random K-pop stuff, ultra-local politics with no context, posts about random low-key mobile games, stream of thought... I'm literally at a complete loss about where to narrow my focus with that platform, it might as well be a hacked feed of every single cell phone DM/individual group chat messages (minus the smut). I can't even figure out why I should give a fuck about it existing TBH, what am I supposed to do with this thing?

  • I hear you, but this is a problem that I've solved by browsing the splash as Posts/All/New. It helps to catch rando posts that I wouldn't normally stumble across.

  • I feel as though I'm still missing something about Mastadon that others have absorbed and moved past. There was remarkably little content there, aside from the spam shotgunned into my feed by the few brand/city official accounts that I subbed to... What's the appeal? I set it to display the rando posts, but it appeared to be literally that, random shitposting the way that people scream into the void of Twitter or Bluesky...

  • I first overheard people talking about this as a kid regarding speeding tickets of all things. Given the gravity of their effect on your license demerits and resulting escalating increases in insurance rates, I was given the impression that it's essential to show up to court and at least take a swing at contesting fines/charges. In keeping with the baseball analogy, it's sometimes enough just to bunt, i.e. show up and hold the bat, as officers are frequently scheduled on duty when whatever applicable hearing is held. Apparently it's enough simply to show up, given that they've fucked off to do something 'more important' instead of arranging the morning/afternoon away with their CO's ahead of time. For more serious charges, the lesson applies doubly, the pricks will go out of their way to derail your entire life for spite. Always fight it, always, always, always. The stakes are just too high to plead out.

To add insult to injury, they frequently deliberately waste the court's time as a tactic to overtax the defendant's financial resources. Making shit up serves to apply additional restrictions, bail, and possibly house arrest, assuming that the person targeted isn't broke and has their life ruined by sitting in lockup until the first hearing (fewer and fewer people have the resources to accommodate housing expenses, let alone all of their other personal/financial obligations in the meantime, and wind up unemployed & homeless). Fabricating spurious charges has been a weapon used by police and the courts for aeons, if the pigs in L.A. weren't still pulling this shit, I'd be shocked.

  • Well said, as though the entire arrangement were legitimate simply because of marriage, instead of some human trafficking and pimping. There's been efforts to address this problem in the ultra-orthodox Christian communities in the U.S. and Canada recently. Of all things, it was the inter-state & international transportation of the girls involved which have lent the strongest judicial tools against the polygamist communities.

  • Not everyone, no. The victim's pain and tribulation in years following is at the root of why so many people despise rapists, especially child rapists. It's the absolute worst thing among the laundry list of crimes committed against minors every year, just short of murder. The incident(s) in question, and the fallout are a phenomenon widely recognized for the long-lasting damage done to them and their families, both present and future. Aside from the actual psychological impact of the crime, there's the very well recognized classically-embedded realization that when someone too small/sexually immature is coerced into/forced to have sex, the act itself, and the pregnancy which follows can be virtual death sentences. Any grown woman who's given birth to a 9-10+ lbs. baby/twins/triplets/quadruplets can tell you, it's exhausting and excruciating if not downright hazardous in the wrong circumstances - those found in a pregnant Mother-to-be who's shorter than 5' and weighing less than 100 lbs., as nearly all minor girls are.

People do realize IMO, that's the heart of the issue. That's the source of the outrage beyond rich assholes taking advantage of, and injuring young girls.

  • The best part about Mr. T's gold necklaces is that he got the idea from working a bouncer. The man became a literal living mannequin, holding onto people's gold chains like some kind of ass-kicking coat check.

  • Don't know how quickly custom vinyl stickers can be bought & delivered, but someone needs to slap a "Died Like A Cartoon Character" achievement on his casket/headstone.

  • Never thought about it in terms of a Tim Allen movie, but yes lol

  • You'd better hope that they don't have a Ring of Featherfall/Levitation, or have some other means of teleportation/flight too, because Gods won't help you if you screw it up and they survive lol

  • I have this mental fanfiction that every god has a way to be killed, and when you kill them you can get things from them.

I'll encourage you to investigate the AD&D-D&D 5th Ed. material concerning the Forgotten Realm setting's Gods, all the way up to Ao. Murdering them imbues their killer with their 'portfolio', specific deity controlled influence over Harvest, War, Music, Healing, etc. See also, the entire plot concerning 'The Time of Troubles' most notably seen in Baldur's Gate (1998).
