  • For what it’s worth, you wouldn’t be on one of these anyway. I don’t believe the MD-11 operates as a passenger plane these days. It’s useful for freight companies who don’t care quite as much about fuel efficiency, but for passenger airlines there are far better options.

    Also this is a McDonnell-Douglas fuckup, one Boeing did warn the operators about.

  • I have a good friend who is Venezuelan. He said, the political situation in the US aside, most Venezuelans are celebrating (but cautiously).

    Maduro had lost the last election but just decided to stick around anyway.

    I’m not upset about this because Maduro was a good dude or anything. He wasn’t. I’m upset because it’s a blatant violation of the international order and is basically just old-school imperialism.

    I’m not gonna say Chick-fil-A are perfect angels, but the article is about a guy who is upset because one of the locations in Utah celebrated a gay marriage and corporate backed them up. That’s a very different Chick-fil-A than in 2012.

  • I have a personal domain I use for email, with an address set up as firstname@lastname.family

    Most people understand this just fine, but sometimes forms don’t work with .family as a TLD. EVERY NOW AND THEN, though, someone cannot comprehend an email address that doesn’t end in Gmail.com.

    When I arrived to have some work done on my car recently the person on the phone had recorded my email as: firstnameatlastname.family@gmail.com. Like, the actual word “at” was in there. I had never said anything about Gmail. And when I corrected it after arriving at the shop, their form had no issue with the .family TLD.

    I think some people genuinely don’t understand that Gmail and email aren’t synonymous.
