So this article is talking about the Phoenix-Metro area because most data centers and INTEL are in Chandler, AZ. They offset heating and cooling costs with the lack of natural disasters and highly predictable weather. +4° doesn’t mean s* to the metro. It’s literally built to survive +150F° (street) temps.
The Central Arizona Project (CAP) does a good job to ensure our water supply but has been corrupted by foreign “needs” like alfalfa for Saudi livestock. The great Hohokam tribes didn’t plan for this when they built the original canals 1,000 years ago and connected the Pima with the means to produce the world’s greatest cotton. Olive oil, citrus, and so many other local agro THRIVE here. We shouldn’t be dumping water into Saudi alfalfa.
Regardless, data centers, Intel, Motorola, AMEX, Raytheon, Charles Schwab… have all paid their required taxes and put all three of my kids through the best public schools our tax dollars could fund. House values are holding strong and because of how many H1B visas live here, Chandler/Tempe/Mesa has some of the best variety of foods than most places in the southwest.
We have one of the largest nuclear power plants, our solar and wind capabilities are off the charts… we just need an administration that shuns fossil fuels and will stand up against farming exports. Oddly, both go hand in hand.
I came home to an empty house and my wife and kid missing. It would be dumb to say there were no signs of divorce but up until the last few hours she was telling me how much she loved me, hugs and kisses. We even did that cringy shit where I’d say “happy wife?” and she always said “yes”.
Apparently she got extremely depressed around the same time her family doctor put her on Adderall. She would spend the next two years slipping away, hiding from our son when I was at work and just cried herself to sleep.
I had no idea. I have all the means to afford the help she needed but on that fateful day, I felt like I was hit by a fucking truck.
Didn’t Oppenheimer do this for real? Tried to poison his university tutor with an apple or some shit, and everyone was like “silly Oppenheimer, here’s your degree now go have fun with your death machine thingy”.
In the early 00’s, we put DSL on a business card shaped cdrw and carried them around. When it would get too hot outside we’d go to the library and boot into Linux, bypassing the software firewalls they were running and download as much music as we could to a tape drive. It took a few weekends to get the drivers and software right but it worked and was so much faster than our home connections. $5 got you top10 hits from any genre you wanted. We thought we were SO smart like we invented bootlegging.
I tried playing Lemmings a few months ago and it was crazy frustrating. User interfaces have come a long way since the 90’s. I didn’t really give the game a fair shake and I remember liking it as a kid, so I’ll probably try again.
I was raised in southern hospitality, so I know exactly what you’re going through.
I just stopped using pronouns altogether.
“Excuse me”
“Thank you”
“I appreciate you”
“Do you know the way to San Jose”
Turns out 99% of interactions don’t depend on what genitals a person’s rocking. I guess if you’re asked to identify a suspect in a crime it might help? Point being, stop focusing on their crotch and what they’re doing with it 😁 you’ve been trained to be weird about it.
If I said yes, I’d be lying. Both of us fell fat asleep watching ST:TNG. To be fair, it’s our third time watching in 10 years. Some things should never change.
If you prefer salted rice, I’d suggest using soy or ponzu sauce after the rice is cooked. It’s much easier to see. Add a few drops and mix.
