Futility is resistant

  • TheOldReader.com

Free for 100 feeds, although it added a small ad in the home page recently, which can be blocked btw.

  • This is not technical, but I hope the subscriptions are getting Lyric the dog some meat along with “Home cooked meals of green beans, sweet potatoes, carrots, and brown rice”. Dogs require meat, it’s not their fault.

  • How dare you assume their gender? They are now referred to as theyists.

  • Plot twist: you started using it on September 30 at 11:18 am.

  • I’m not sure a micro kernel would solve all issues during an upgrade, as it surely has to upgrade itself regularly. To be fair, a monolithic kernel sounds more stable in theory, since more drivers and components upgrade to a new compatible state. The issues usually come from inconsistencies between libraries and applications.

  • I’m glad the Hurd is still alive. Having a completely open OSS micro kernel OS is a good thing. It can explore architecture concepts Linux can’t.

  • And they KNOW humans provide sustenance on a regular basis, and protection, so I can’t believe they think we’re just giant hairless monstrous cats. They’d have to think everything else is a cat otherwise. Look at the flying cats, mom! I’m gonna catch and eat one!

  • Mangos are the sluts of the fruit world

  • Thank you, I got to the same conclusion. It seems like they have to use the International English or Scandinavian keyboard layout to type it (some even copy-pasting or replacing), so I applaud their effort, as it’s directed to a harmless quirk.

  • This piqued my curiosity, and it turns out that Þ is an obsolete Old and Middle English letter, which was pronounced almost like th.

There’s a subreddit called BringBackThorn, with the description below. I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a similar trend on the Fediverse.

Bring Back Þ is a subreddit for þe movement to reintroduce þe letter Þ, pronounced “thorn,” an Old English letter representing þe ⟨th⟩ sound þat fell out of use wiþ þe advent of þe printing press. Printing press tilesets imported from Europe didn’t have Þ as þeir languages lacked þis letter and several oþer old English glyphs.

TL;DR: Let the dude be, he’s not harming anyone with his hobby.

  • What’s the deal with your “th”s?

  • Im sorry, grandpa. Your grandson and a family died because he was blowing through red lights at full speed. Witnesses say he heard you were resting after putzing around with your hobbies all morning.

    Edit: autocorrect

  • Quick question: who could devote a fortune to make a fake world just to see what you do? Are you really, seriously, incredibly interesting?

Let me guess you’re not, as we all know there are many people much more Truman-Showable that you or me or most of the people here. The logical conclusion is that no one would spending money to deceive you, because reality is free.

If you really are depressed, devote a weekend to help some local charity. Helping others always puts my problems in perspective.

  • “Your honor, this man’s defense is impregnable”.

  • You might be right, they would need cat-like reflexes to evade that kind of stab.

  • Knight stomps the lion.

And you read this against your will.

    And you did it again.

  • Knight is King Arthur, lion trained with Jackie Chan.

  • The knight would have to be very competent. A lion’s swat is very fast and powerful, that medieval sword is going to fly if it’s not handled skillfully.

  • Even two spear-wielding humans would be a huge challenge to a single lion. He could even hurt/kill one, but receive a fatal wound from the back as a result. We are too clever and well-coordinated.
