  • Hehe, yeah. In the oldendays there was newspaper as an option for drying glass streak-free. It was never the best choice luckily, but it used to be prevalent. A squeegee was the old better solution, and a microfiber cloth is the new better solution.

  • If you are catching spray, try to increase the follow distance between you and the vehicle ahead. Same deal for rocks in places where that is a concern. It can be hard to leave a big gap, for fear that someone will come into that gap, but you can't fix everyone, you can only fix you.

    But, we also do have wipers for anything that happens during the current drive, not as good as not getting dirty in the first place, but better than staying dirty.

  • It was general advice for the situation, not specific to the image. There are many things that can cause it to be much more difficult to see when driving towards a low sun than it actually needs to be. It's not a great situation at it's best, but it shouldn't be fully debilitating.

  • I am an autistic 41 year old man that lives in my parents basement. I just collect information and re-distribute it where it is needed.

    I am basically the pre-cursor to an LLM, an LLM made of meat.

    If you've ever watched or read anything with that "wise old hermit" that people line up to ask their philosophical questions to. That was an oldendays autistic person of the same type as me. Can't function in society, but has no emotional thinking to cloud their logic. The thing is, no matter how logical the advice was, and how much it made sense in the moment, it may not have been applicable to normal people. Though I am of course aware of the nature and source of my clarity and try to keep it in mind when giving advice. Unlike the wise hermits of old.

    Not to say I am always right, and not to say logic is always the correct solution. But it often is, and I often am.

  • Clean your windshield, inside and out, and polarized sunglasses, or sunglass clips for glasses. And make sure any level of astigmatism you may have is known and corrected for.

    If after washing your windshield, it still scatters the incoming light too much, it is probably pitted. You may have to consider replacing it. It is part of maintaining a vehicle. It may suck to be surprised with an expense like that, but the surprise expense of an avoidable accident is much worse. And might not only be expensive.

  • Ok, so it'd be like if a wikipedia page about jesus said he was "our lord and saviour" instead of saying "some people consider him to be their lord and saviour". A page for "Lord and saviour" as a phrase might still list jesus as one possible link.

    Basically taking a first person position on it, instead of a third person position. Like grokipedia is writing from first person perspective that Hitler is the fuhrer, which when you consider that it is a significant departure from the wikipedia article, as only 0.01% of the content of grokipedia is, suggests it's a hand crafted article written by someone that would refer to hitler personally as the leader, and not as someone some people used to call "the leader".

    There is a reason it was edited immediately as soon as people noticed, due to how bad it looked once pointed out.

  • Only his followers actually use(d) that title for him, everyone else when using that word about him, would say it's the title his followers call(ed) him. Like how wikipedia is using it. Grok is just using it as his title, like a follower would.

    You can think of it kind of like "dear leader" in north korea. Anyone calling him that outside of north korea is at least doing it sarcastically or using air quotes. This would be like if the news called him that with a sincere reverent tone.

  • To be fair, the wikipedia article says he was called that by the people that followed him. It never calls him that itself.

    The grokipedia article, just calls him that.

    A subtle, but very important, distinction.

    Not to mention the other important part where grok buries any mention of the holocaust 13000 words in, where as it's in the intro on wikipedia.

    Keep in mind, by default, grokipedia started with a copy of what wikipedia said, so any changes are what was hand-edited on purpose.

    The changes speak to what they wanted it to say and do differently.

  • I definitely wouldn't say it's a certainty, but it's a pretty strong coincidence to have all three of those sudden outbursts back to back out of the blue if they are completely unrelated. And even if that didn't happen the odds were already high enough before making that connection.

    That behaviour is very much in-line with those types of clubs. Whether the illegal thing be drugs, or sex stuff, or just the actual real life secret political clubs that were only about corruption and collusion, which sound super tame now, but are already bad enough. And those clubs do very often end up coming out that they were still infiltrated with spies, or started by spies in some cases. Like, these aren't uncommon or brand new, they have been around for thousands of years.

    It's actually very believable.

  • Well for me, the fact that an hour before it leaked, trump had 3 outbursts, one to the repulicans that are trying to get it released, one to the democrats about the same thing but more desperate and deranged sounding than normal, and one directly about how they are gonna look into bill clintons ties to epstein.... all an hour before we found out what he was mad about.... like we didn't even have to guess it was bill, trump basically told us by having no self control.

    So, I guess he got a heads up about what was gonna leak.

Initiation rituals like that not only make it "safe" against people that would try to spill the secret, but photos of it act as insurance to further guarantee it stays secret. And since Epstein was a spy for various countries, it doubled as a way to control a bunch of powerful people.

  • They are holding the most vulnerable Americans hostage in the hopes that it will convince the democrats to allow them to be hurt in a different way, by agreeing to the proposed budget.

    But most importantly, they are also trying to extend the duration of the shutdown, while making it seem like they aren't the ones doing it. So the deal they are offering has to stay something that the democrats would never agree to....

    So they also benefit from anything other than that being what is in the news, but they have lots of practice making sure the news is talking about stupid stuff instead of important stuff.

    As long as the government is shut down, the vote to release the Epstein documents can't happen. Currently if it happened, it would pass. That will be devastating not to just trump, but a large percentage of rich republicans, in and out of government. (As well as a small percentage of rich democrats) so they are just waiting until the situation changes enough that they think a vote would go their way.

    And while that does seem both comically evil and too simple to possibly be what it is all about.... or wait... does it still seem too evil and simple to be the real plan?

  • Hehe, honestly, I kind of enjoy the forced introspective time. Forced is a harsh word, but introspectiveness is kind of nice. I don't really fight it all that hard, hehe. I do conserve water if we are in tough water times locally, but otherwise, I just make sure I have an hour free before I go in.

  • Hypersensory Autism, in my case. But both are relatively common, so could be what it is in many peoples cases here. For me a shower is so much sensory input, I am basically forced introspective. Takes alot of willpower to keep awareness and move to the next thing on the checklist.

  • Unless the water at the bottom of your shower is several feet deep, the water pressure in a shower is gonna be nearly 0. You can leave the phone off most of the time, just have it there to jot something down. Ideally, you want it as unobtrusive as possible anyway since the whole point of thinking well in the shower is not having distractions.

    Mine just sits there on the checklist 99% of the time, and I just made the checklist in the same notes app, so I don't even have to leave the app to write stuff down.
