Not to be a nitpicker, but its "hanged" not "hung". Hung is the past tense of hanging something up (Jimmy went and hung up his coat). The past tense of the execution is hanged (Jimmy was hanged at dawn in town square).

A default judgment relates to a complete failure to engage in the process in any way (like failings to enter an appearance, failing to prescribe to the time periods for filing responsive pleadings, etc.) What a failure to produce because the document(s) (intentionally or negligently) no longer exist would be to create an adverse inference/presumption. This could lead to special jurry instructions, if it was material to the case, that weight against the bad actor.

The United States has expanded right throughout its history. Yes, its been a constant struggle. Yes the South has been forced to be dragged kicking and screaming at every point, and sometimes there are setbacks. But, the course of its history has an overall bend towards liberty.

Hate is the opiate of the masses. Alot of people say its religion, but I disagree. Religion is merely one of the syringes of choice.

All the Dems have done since the 80s/90s have done is move left on social services/regulation (slowly) and become more inclusive.

Since Regan (compounded by Citizens United), Dems have been diet Republicans: still siding with Republicans when its something the donors want, but more inclusive on cultural issues. Doubt me? Why did Obama model the heath-insurance reforms after Romney-care (a long sitting Republican) instead of Bernie's idea of Medicare For All? Why did the party go with Hillary instead of Sanders? Why did Harris spend the entire campaign reassuring the donors rather than getting the base to turn out? Money carries more weight than the plebiscite.

Basically, the culture stuff serves as a distraction while they loot and pillage the coffers.

Lemmy's politics rules say to use the article title. When Lemmy scraped the website for a title, it was blank. So, I copy + pasted the title that was there at the time I made the post. I don't want to fuck with it, especially since the title was as I origionally posted (not going to risk a rule violation). Also, since Lemmy didn't scrape it, I figure it won't automatically update to any new title.

Also also, I don't remember every article that I've copy pasted because Lemmy couldn't scrape the title. I am not going to take on the burden of following along and refreshing to see if the articles' titles have changed. Not only is my memory not good enough to recall years of postings, but I also need to sleep.

After Medicaid officials improperly shared data about millions of people in January with immigration officials, ICE then shared that data with the data analytics firm Palantir, according to new court filings. Palantir operates an app called ELITE that is used by ICE agents to show the addresses of noncitizens who may be subject to deportation.

That revelation was made public in a motion filed Thursday by more than 20 Democratic attorneys general who sued the Trump administration last year over its data-sharing agreement between the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and ICE.

Palantir said in a statement to NPR that the dataset in question had been purged.

So, now the Gestapo has medical data on its current as well as its soon-to-be targets, and the intelligencia can now feed its surveillance and AI with our private data. Wonder how long until future employers will be able to access that data.
