  • The Plasma wayland session is now the default option in sddm (display manager login screen). An X11 session can be selected instead if desired. The last used session type will be remembered, so you do not have to switch type on each login.

    The same holds for 25.04.

  • We weren't doing any ressource extensive computations with Matlab, mainly just for teaching FEM, as we've had an extensive collection of scripts for that purpose, and pre- and some post processing.

  • No, I'm not at university anymore.

  • Cool.

  • Does Python have the ability to specify loops that should be executed in parallel, as e.g. Matlab uses parfor instead of for?

  • Essentially, almost nobody ever used it, not even all offices and authorities.

  • I think every government should be providing email service the same way they provide physical mail service. With all the rights currently given to physical mail.

We've tried that in Germany. The De-Mail was already dead when it was born.

  • Cool, I didn't know it expots changes automatically. I've always thought, it was for devices where the contacts app doesn't have an export function.

  • The (Fossify) contracts contacts app is independent from the location you store your contacts. You could e.g. keep storing them on Google although that's probably not your intention. If you don't want to store the contacts locally on your device, than you'd need to export them as vcards and then import them into a new CardDAV server of your choice, e.g. Nextcloud, Baikal, SoGo, ...Access and synchronization needs then to be configured in the Android native 'Accounts & Synchronization' settings or using DAVx5.

  • It's both, a crater and a mountain. But, when somebody aims to investigate it, the quantum function collapses to either solution. The last time, it happened to be a crater.

  • I haven't found the announcement itself, but replies by Tumblr mentioning it.

  • Annas's archive, an archive of scientific research articles and books, might be affected as well. As the download is likely a peer to peer torrent type, it is good practice to let (at least 2) others participate by seeding while keeping the own footprint low, to avoid becoming a target of 'anti piracy' mafia. Setting the seed ratio to 2.1 in the torrent client does essentially this.

  • It's about the current (threat?) of purging Wikipedia from articles not fitting into the MAGA mind, e.g. climate, gender, race and others, as well as 'cleaning' the inventory of public libraries accordingly.

  • The Great Pyramid in Giza, as it is really old?

  • The comic lists tall structures existing in this moment. Aside from not starting at ground level, as an experiment, the space tether does not persist until today.

  • Violet Tuesday (Veilchendienstag) is Pancake or Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras).

Nelkensamstag is named after the flower, not the herb and thus should be Dianthus Saturday.

  • Usually, you notice it, as Mastodon automatically adds an @username@instance for everybody the commment replies to, Lemmy doesn't.
