  • A large majority of my apps are from F-Droid these days, but here are some of my favorites I haven't seen in this thread yet:

(Note that some of these need the IzzyOnDroid repo installed, not sure if that counts as cheating)

Tempus A rapidly improving music streaming client for Subsonic/Navidrome/Jellyfin

Kvaesitso The best launcher on Android period (Nova users, give this one a try as Nova is no longer receiving updates!)

Lavender Photos My favorite gallery app! Clean, modern interface and some very good basic editing tools that provide utility without making it feel bloated

Breezy Weather A very nice looking weather app that allows multiple weather sources (defaults to Open Meteo)

WG Tunnel A very clean and simple Wireguard client so you don't have to install your VPN provider's proprietary app

  • Ooh look I can do that too!

I bet you're sitting there with a huge smug grin on your face after totally owning me in this debate we were having, and you'll tell all your friends and colleagues about how great you are for winning this internet argument

See how I made up an imaginary caricature of you and insulted that? See how fucking dumb and childish that sounded?

Maybe next time don't take constructive criticism so personally

  • I gave you the benefit of the doubt, and tried alerting you in good faith that your "joke" didn't come off the way (I assume) you intended.

I didn't accuse you of being biphobic.

I didn't even accuse you of thinking bisexualality isn't real, despite the fact you wrote that in your comment.

I said nothing about you personally.

The correct response would have been along the lines of "sorry, I didn't mean for my comment to come across as hostile, I was just trying to make a silly joke, my bad"

Instead, you've just been a dick

    What does that accomplish exactly?

  • Hey, I get this is supposed to be a joke but starting it off with the words "there's no such thing as bisexuality" and then proceeding to reduce attraction to only existing during sex... Yeah, that's kinda gross

  • Not as far as I'm aware. Unless Sonarr/Radarr has the capability to only send a webhook request when a file stops seeding

  • Are you sure you're subscribing to the correct feed? ListenBrainz gives two different feeds, one is a "weekly(maybe daily?) Mix" consisting of your own music, and another that is recommendations of music it doesn't know you have.

Occasionally a song I have slips into the latter because it hasn't been scrobbled yet, but otherwise the recommendations are reasonably good and I'll decide to grab maybe 30-50% of them

  • I think they aim to accomplish different things. Muxarr doesn't download any new subtitles or audio tracks, only deletes and renames ones already present in the file

  • Jealous of people with that much storage right now 😅. My setup is small, just an HP mini PC with an m.2 to sata adapter with 2 SSDs in raid0 lol (don't worry my important stuff is backed up off-site). I have 4 free slots left on the adapter still but this AI bubble needs to burst before I can justify spending money on 4 more drives and setting up a ZFS pool

  • I use Navidrome on the server side

Tempus on Android (maintained fork of Tempo)

    Feishin on desktop

I also recently set up music assistant to try and stream my music to my TV too, although I haven't used it yet beyond just testing and don't see myself using it too much

I scrobble my Navidrome up to ListenBrainz too, which then gives weekly recommendations to add to my collection.

  • Looks like exactly what I need, thanks!

  • I didn't see the date and had no idea they were talking about a Halloween costume for the first half of the post and was quite confused why someone would wear cat ears and a lab coat to work

  • Beastly

  • display: grid for a single element feels kinda cursed to me

  • Isn't the license for the keyboard basically just a source-available non-commercial use license?

I mean sure, completely open source would be better, but I can definitely understand why they don't want some big tech company just taking their work and monetizing it

  • Also came here to say Nightcrawler. I was 15 when I saw it, and of course at the time I thought nothing could freak me out, but I wasn't prepared for Jake Gyllenhaal being that creepy

  • I've actually been wondering how feasible it might be to set up a Lemmy or piefed server just for me. Is it frowned upon in the fediverse to essentially have a "vanity" url for an instance no one else can join? How difficult would it be to manage blocklists/federation without a team like the large instances have? Would there be an issue with instances refusing to federate with a single user instance?

  • It works with wildcards, but only if they're pre-defined in some yaml. It's great for i.e. defining areas a robot vacuum should clean or days of the week for a weather forcast, but might be a bit of a pain for shopping list items unless you only ever use your voice for a select few.

As for what I'm using, it's just called speech-to-phrase and I believe it's now the default when setting up a new Voice PE (although that might just be on lower powered hardware). If it wasn't set up for you, it can be installed as an add-on and then configured as a Wyoming protocol service.

  • This is why I started using speech to phrase instead of speech to text. Sure it's technically less flexible, but I only need a couple of voice commands for occasional tasks that are impractical to automate with sensors and it's blazing fast

  • Take another minute to think about just how many stars are in the solar system...

  • Last time I checked it only runs well on M1 devices, with M2 being somewhat usable. M3 though M5 are a complete no-go unfortunately :(
