  • IPv6 = second system effect. It's way too complicated for what was needed and this complexity hinders its adoption. We don't need 100 ip addresses for every atom on the earth's surface and we never will.

They should have just added an octet to IPv4 and be done with it.

  • It's not even about which view is right or neutral. On .world posts and comments critical of the US aren't mass censored like .ml does with posts critical of China, Russia or the former USSR.

  • So it seems they do indeed clean up the modlog... my bans are still in there, but all mod actions where they removed China critical comments are no longer there.

  • Yeah, but for example !linux@lemmy.ml is the only reasonably active community on Linux, and one of the communities I frequent the most.

  • I'm not sure how they accomplish that

If they have database access, which they would have being the admins, they can do anything.

  • what would I gain from docker or other containers?

    Reproducability.

Once you've built the Dockerfile or compose file for your container, it's trivial to spin it up on another machine later. It's no longer bound to the specific VM and OS configuration you've built your service on top of and you can easily migrate containers or move them around.

  • For crime?

  • Yeah but uBlock Origin still works on Chrome too
