  • Careful now, you're on Lemmy

  • Its much worse at the start of a sentence.

  • Good call

  • Haven't heard it much but I do like it

  • Oh very good call. I'm not particularly knowledgable on them.

  • I get the desire to move backwards in time. That goes for me too, to a lesser extent than you though.

Another useful way that I think might help you is to just see what else is happening in the world in that time period. That helps you create an anchor just as knowing what cones after does.

  • I'm in the same camp as you when it comes to pre-colombian south America. Sounds fascinating but I know nothing of it.

  • Hegel remarks somewhere that all great, world-historical facts and personages occur, as it were, twice. He has forgotten to add: the first time as tragedy, the second as farce.

  • Man if not for the damn abrahamic religions I wonder what the culture of the world would be like now with the old gods.

Say we keep Judaism and remove Christianity plus Islam, I think the world would be more interesting.

  • Absolutely.

Apart from the exact cases the lovely krudler just mentioned I agree with this. The misuse is very annoying.

  • There's some good work being done on the pre Islamic Arabian gods which is very fascinating.

  • For me its Mughal India and the Indus Valley Civilisation.

  • Most TV and cinema I try to appreciate and analyse as a medium. Its a visual medium and constantly changing.

    Needs attention for analysis.

Now i do sometimes watch some braindead TV or movies too although you can always take away something from them too, they require a lil less attention.

    • So 90% of the time no distractions.
    • 10% of the time I might use my phone, or if I'm watching smth on my phone walk to my kitchen or talk to someone I'm with etc.
  • Disappointed fan meme

  • Lmao, In other words, yes - yes it can

  • Antimeme is a subgenre of a meme. Just as antihumor is a comedic subgenre.

Both use the music of their respective mediums to push their own medium.
