  • I had to turn down my block multiplier so that I could play Unreal Engine games. I would suspect that would extend the lifetime. After the underclock I have perfect stability.

  • Paradigm by itself is useful in computer science. A lot of corpo speak comes from terms initially created for agile, but eventually scrum masters were not the engineers and the useful words that were used a describers are now used as content. Agile is a mistake.

  • It's actually perfectly in line with Israeli war doctrine. One of the Arab wars was a preemptive strike against 4 adversaries.

  • People are driven to work for fulfillment and nobody likes being poor. People will always try to make as much money as possible. The "welfare king/queen" is a rare mentality, most people are not content with being poor.

  • Does Claude even have enough spacial awareness to be useful? Sifting through human text is what LLMs do best but not anything that requires a lot of spacial awareness.

  • Let me translate. Adding a completely new object with new rules is easy compared to modifying exist assets and it's new a clothing peice. Cosmetics are hard to implement, especially a fucking scarf which is on top of all the major animation areas. Do the animations still look good? Do I need to adjust the cutscenes to account for which scarf is being warn? How does this affect lighting?

  • Hey it's not my fault, this project was started in 2018 and they choose to use bootstrap.

  • If Persona or Palantir were not involved it would be more likely to not be surveillance state shit. But this is obviously not the case. If they wanted to do actually id verification they would use banks or pay a government service. What people are not getting is that in this exchange, you are the product. Palantir was paying Discord to gather our data to track us and sell our data to Palantir's main client. They backed down because it is more profitable to keep all their customers than integrate with Palantir to sell our data and lose x amount of customers.

  • The app found one pair this morning on my commute and a whole bunch of Quests. It will pickup VR headsets.

  • Have you ever heard the saying "don't bite the hand that feeds you." If you are a full time streamer it is literally the hand that feeds them. The streamers are in it for the ride. For every "lolz fuck you i got mine" there are 1000 streamers just making content.

  • It's creating this state of mind which is going to kill everything. I was coding a website for fun on the weekend and streaming for one of my friends to see how some stuff works. Every other fucking person that joined the call opened with "I see you are vibe coding a website" when they could visibly see that i was not logged into coopilot, i was using VS on my gaming PC like a chump. These are all CS people and now everything defaults to using an LLM. We are doomed as a whole.

  • As far as I am concerned I am going to do the opposite of anything Sam Altman says. He is the ultimate snake oil salesman. He sold this trash to Microsoft, which I guess these days is pretty on brand.

  • Real question, what stops Root from having the same problems as Discord?

  • Does Stoat have voice chat?

  • I figure losing half their users while making money on their new surveillance scheme might be more profitable. Than have 100% of their user continue to use the app as is.

  • Since the 90s every few years you have had to move. You get over it eventually. There will be stragglers that will always hold on to the old one, they will be the last to the new platform. It's happened before and it will happen again.

  • We were using multiple chat clients up to 2015.

  • Its worse, it is basically temporary information archives that can disappear at any time, plus security BS. There is going to a 10 year gap of lost information when Discord goes away/becomes unusable. Forums last forever, I have a backup for one that nobody has used in 10 years, that information could never be lost.

  • For the longest time this was just a bad faith argument. It turns out everything they do is in bad faith and they are running the world with the attitude that everything I do does not matter in the long run because I will be dead, never witnessing the consequences. I don't think older people should be allowed to vote without passing a political 'literacy' test.
