  • Yesterday I had a meeting where I explained this to my team. Nobody can use Opus anymore and shoot for under 5% of your monthly budget per work day. They better pray that I am the first one to run out of credits, I won't buy more until that. From today alone it looks grim, they changed something in the harness too, making it burn credits. I would say we use it very lightly and we are in trouble. It is going to be a blood bath. Does anyone know if the JetBrains plan is more token efficient? I am also looking at just paying API cost for a cheap model on openrouter.

  • I actually have never had to deal with office 2003 in a professional capacity, so I could not tell you. From what I remember the word processor always worked, it was Outlook that did not work eventually. After end of life they don't add new auth methods to the old software. Running Office 2013 and Outlook 2021 side by side was a disaster.

    Is that office 2003 works on my system? Or Office 2003 at 3 different customers with an endless variety of hardware and OS combinations, mostly works?

  • When I sold customers office a couple years ago. I would give them two options, you can go with MS365( or what ever bullshit they call it now) and pay the yearly subscription to always have the newest product. Or you could buy perpetuals and hope they don't start sunsetting perpetuals faster than they did back then. They have always made perpetuals unusable after 6+ years through one mechanism or another.

  • They most likely did something illegal or at least something that puts them on very shaky ground if they try to litigate. I am guessing there are multiple other people they fucked over and those people are not as ethical as this person. So they chose the blackhat path. I would treat any Windows device as a comprised device. It is possible that there are 20 other people, who are the best of the best security researchers, that were taking the low effort paycheck because it was a legal route that are now going to fuck Microsoft up. The non technical people who made the decision to stop paying out, did not fundamentally understand what they were doing. Mythos was just marketed as the best model for doing security research and they fell for it.

  • Not many people are paying attention to this. I manage my companies Ai policy and plan. Yesterday I checked the Copilot pricing preview and it did not look good. We do not use it heavily and it is going to cost us 2x. People should be prepared to go back to trad coding.

  • They are changing the pricing plans to move away from the subscription model to a metered model. Beause operating at a loss is not a long term goal. People have no idea what July is going to be like, when MS changes Copilot to metered in June it's going to be bad. I checked the usage for my companies plan yesterday and we are going to be paying more. At least 2x. Good luck to the companies that are burning tokens as part of their business plan. Either they get massive bills and go broke, or lose access to Ai after 5 days.

  • That is not today's problem. The Brian Mulroney conservatives don't have a home in the party of extemeists that is lead by pp, or Erin O'Toole, or Andrew Scheer. Now the Liberals are right of center and lean strongly into neo-lib ideology. Justin Trudeau was a neo-lib hiding under the veneer of decent social policy. Jagmeet Singh was also a neo-lib. Our progressive politicians suck right now.
