As the title implies, it is literally the Enterprise finale, but every time it fades to black, it plays the title sequence in its entirety.
There are 21 transitions in this episode, thus 21 instances of the theme song in this video. Right now, it is all just the season 4 version of the theme song. But to add some variety, I thought it would be neat to make some of them some different variation of the song.
Here is what i have planned so far:
Season 1
Just the normal version from seasons 1/2, as performed by Russell Watson
Season 1
Season 1
Season 4
The revised poppy version from seasons 3/4
Season 4
Mirror universe
The mirror universe episodes used a slightly altered title sequence full of Terran imagery instead of Earth imagery
Rod Stewart
The song was originally performed by Rod Stewart. The Watson version is technically actually a cover.
Susan Ashton
Susan Ashton also performed a cover of the song
Upside down video
Just the normal title sequence, but the video is flipped vertically (or rotated 180°).
Reversed audio
And possibly mirrored video to match the "backwards" aesthetic
Sped up
The song with a "nitecore" style
Sped down
The song with a "slowed and reverbed" style
Autotuned
I don't know if I actually have the tools to make this happen, but it might be funny to have excessive autotune on the vocals
My thought process is that it starts out playing the original theme a couple times, then the poppy version from later seasons, then the theme from the mirror universe episode (which I believe is the normal song, just with Terran visuals), then it really starts to go off-the-rails. Finally, the episode ends by going back to the normal theme.
The main issue that I see with this plan is that there are so many repeats, which I think I should avoid if I can. I do think I want some repeats at the beginning, so watchers are lulled into assuming the entire thing is "normal" before becoming chaos.
Are there other versions of the song that you can think of that I could use? Or clever video editing things to do or something for certain sequences? Or any other helpful feedback?
Another important thing to note here is that this all might be effectively just... a hypothetical exercise, in a way. Even if I eventually finish this project, I am not sure I really feel safe actually uploading it anywhere because the content of the video definitely goes past fair use. The joke doesn't exist without having the full episode in between the title sequences.
Some helpful criticism: Assuming you had made this, you should increase the exposure on the head layers. As-is, the heads are much darker than the rest of the image because film posters are definitely lit better than TV shows. In GIMP, you can find that filter under Colors > Exposure. The heads would likely stand out less that way.
Not sure why this is the first comment I am seeing mention salt. Unsalted peanut butter is rare, and definitely tastes worse. I am sure people sensitive to sodium or whatever appreciate it, though.
Yep, he did a great job keeping it obscured. As you say, there were only a few quick shots where the absence of a finger was visible, and it takes a keen eye to actually spot them.
