I think it's just that one community that is gone. I also notice that its sole moderator @hastur@sh.itjust.works is banned, so perhaps the admin who banned them had decided to take down the community as well.
Characters are largely practical though, so they look fine still.
You get characters like G'Kar who are obviously just human actors in stiff latex prosthetics and it's pretty immersion-breaking. You just have to look past it and pretend it's actually a lizard person, like you do with Cardassians.

Every other event is about general hardware stuff. The rest of the donations are to specific distros, desktop environments, or other software, where the donation will help fuel development of software that will directly benefit Framework devices running Linux. And then they donate to... a conference dedicated to an obsolete web application framework? That just sounds like "Oh, your customers got upset when they learned you donated to me? Just say you donate to this other thing that doesn't look like me, and the money will still get to me."
