  • I’m thinking of starting out in that imadethis community, since I’m already in it, and it’s a nice group, and I doubt there are many of us dorky label people out there. I like to make fun labels for my prescriptions, kitchen spices, etc. working on one now in fact. Will post when I’m done. It’s kicking my butt a little bit, so I’m taking a break.

  • On paper, the best one is the Brother P-Touch Cube. And there are a wide variety of different colored 3rd party label tapes available to avoid paying the brother tape markup. And it does varying widths of tape up just under 1”. The iOS app for label making that it works with is trash. The Mac app is pretty bad, but after a good amount of practice, I am getting pretty good with it, and am discovering new things often. I hear the windows app is pretty great, but I haven’t tried it, nor the android app.

  • Maybe. I’ve already got a bunch of pretty quiet communities to moderate. I wanted to just see if anyone else is dorky and into labels like me, first.

  • This happened to me a couple of times when I lived in Rhode Island, but only if I accidentally left my truck unlocked. Then someone would steal whatever change was in there. Now I live in rural northern Maine, and I don’t even have to lock my front door, much less my truck. This probably isn’t very helpful; I’ll see myself out.

  • I find they are also easy to fuck yup if the person preparing them isn’t careful. I can’t even justify voting at the grocery store anymore given what prices have risen to, and I make decent money. Previously I would really never go to a restaurant for a steak because in my experience I can cook a steak just as well or better than most places I have ever been. That said, shoutout to the place I had one at the Newark, NJ airport back in September. One of the best I have ever had. That meal for one person cost a hundred US dollars though.

  • I love this thread, so I extracted out everything that was listed so far. Please offer corrections for any errors and I will fix.

    1. Frozen chicken nuggets and fries; buttermilk ranch dip Ingredients

    • Frozen chicken nuggets
    • Frozen fries
    • Ranch dip
      • 1 cup sour cream
      • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
      • 1/3 cup fresh buttermilk; up to 1/2 cup for a thinner, dressing like dip
      • 2 to 3 tablespoons Hidden Valley ranch powder
      • 2 to 4 tablespoons fresh dill, finely chopped
      • Optional herbs: chives; parsley; a little tarragon
      • Black pepper; optional squeeze of lemon juice

    Steps

    • Bake or air fry nuggets and fries per package directions.
    • Stir sour cream and mayo until smooth.
    • Stir in ranch powder; let it sit 2 minutes so it hydrates.
    • Add buttermilk a splash at a time until the texture is right.
    • Fold in dill and any other herbs; add pepper; chill 15 to 30 minutes if you can.

    Steps

    • Cook pasta in well salted water.  
    • Warm olive oil on low; add garlic and chili; keep heat low so it flavors the oil without browning.  
    • Drain pasta; toss with the oil; top with plenty of parmesan.  
    • Optional: crisp pancetta; sauté mushrooms; warm chickpeas; stir in at the end.

    Steps

    • Cook pasta.
    • In a mug, crush garlic with salt; add basil; pepper; optional pine nuts; mash well.  
    • Cover with olive oil; stir; mix in parmesan.  
    • Drain pasta; toss with pesto; finish with more parmesan.

    • Put frozen salmon on a foil lined tray; season with olive oil; salt; pepper; optional sauce.  
    • Bake about 20 minutes until flaky and cooked.  
    • Microwave green beans; season; serve with microwave rice.

    • Brown ground beef.
    • Add broth; potatoes; vegetables.

  • Your actions are proud and you should feel proud! (I will admit I’m having trouble getting in board with the person who likes miracle whip. The applications they described are legit, but MW’s ingredients are just so terrible, I can’t bring myself to endorse its use. Surely there are more natural alternatives?)

  • Yeah, Fire in the Sky: NOPE. I was also so terrified by The Conjuring that I will never watch another of those movies. I realize I am in the minority. That said, I LOVED it Follows, and I was not scared by it, but I was super entertained. Honorable terror mention to the Eyes in the Dark episode off of Star Trek TNG. Never watching that shit ever again!
