  • Personally it's because the harder something is pushed to me by large corporations, the more skeptical I am to begin with.

    It is your stance, you don't have to compulsively change other people's minds, let them live their lives and you live how you want. For people that are wanting to listen to you, you can tell them how you feel about AI (or perhaps specifically AI chatbots) in both subjective and objective terms. If you want to prepare research and talking points, I think the most effective thing is to have a couple examples such as the Google AI box putting out objectively wrong info with the citation links leading to sites that don't back up any claim in it. Or how the outputs of comic style image generation tend to look like knock-off Tintin and appear uninspiring and unsettling. How reading generated paragraphs, looking at images and videos of fluffy slop is simply a waste of time for you. Just mix that with all the rest of the shortcomings people have provided and you'll make for a good discussion. Remember, the point is not to change people's minds or proselytize but rather to explain why you hold your opinion.

    The QC courts tend to have a higher standard of reasonableness favourable to the consumer when it comes to consumer contracts. "Mistakenly didn't jack up the price for the grand prix and charged regular price instead" is not the same as "a typo causing it to offer far below reasonable cost".

    NYC has a special place in this man's shriveled heart, he's been wanting validation and respect from it but never received it. Since he couldn't get an ass-kisser in power, the next best thing is to try to make himself look good by helping Mamdani's agenda.

    But honestly, if Mamdani proves that socialism works in NYC, I care about that a lot more than how much credit Trump will ultimately get from it.

  • I think it depends on how much the implicated billionaires and some of the smarter Republicans are involved in editing the files.

    If the Trump admin is doing it alone, I bet that this redaction will be completed so sloppily and incompetently, there will be enough crumbs and hints leftover that we'll be able to paint a picture to see more on how Trump and Republicans are involved.

    If Mamdani can pull off the craziest reverse psychology to get his agenda using federal money, in return for a gaudy golden facade with which Trump can bemuse himself... that would be a great turn of events. New Yorkers would be totally aware that this is Mamdani's platform but go along with it.

    In the age of AI we now live in there's more money in data centres than sense, and both venture capital backed businesses and malicious actors (am I repeating myself?) can cast stupidly wide nets.

    That said I want to see more alternatives to cloudflare, like a Euro option.
