  • Yeah, bullshit statement. There are plenty of authoritarians that stay in office until forced out by coup and flee to a foreign country, die in office, or are killed in a coup. I think these are far more likely the case than anyone leaving on their own.

I’m surprised Orban accepted defeat and left peacefully. We’ll have to see if he pulls a trump and keeps shit talking from the sidelines to be re-elected later.

  • Actors. They’re paid actors. It’s fake.

But movies full of violence, gore and high bodycount are just fine.

  • Trump, the right wing, and billionaires are destroying America.

What’s this article doing not pointing fingers at the right people.

  • I don’t think that is “travel” in the spirit of the discussion.

  • Drugs, shitty family, and being neurospicy will do that to you.

  • Still voting for him.

  • Trump: Bring back the Inquisition!

  • Thing is, we got here because of the people pushing right wing nationalist attitudes. Russia is a big exporter of that kind of info via troll farms. China is probably second. While the US has been a growing shitshow for a while and it didn’t take too much effort, there was (and is) a ton of Russian interference deliberately destabilizing the West. The USIC and media have reported on it repeatedly, this isn’t some conspiracy. Everything from the initial Mueller investigation to the killing of Kirk has revealed outside influence pushing the US towards far right extremes via various media.

So yeah, trump is a big threat, but the countries that helped put him in place are every bit as dangerous. Putin is doing everything he can to break up NATO via distrust of the US, wrecking the US economy by pulling money into wars in Ukraine and Iran, and Putin’s pulling that shitheel fool trump deeper into strangling the world economy via oil costs which will further wreck the US economy by turning economic and political allies against us. Trump is such a sucker he’s being played like a two year old with an oreo cookie waved in front of him. Worse, trump and or his cronies think they’re clever by timing stock bets and making millions of their fuckery.

  • Look, I don’t get this need to cite exceptions to make oneself right. I can’t engage in pedantry or add endless footnotes to a general concept of what constitutes thievery or what every individual’s plan is for whatever they steal. It’s ridiculous to waste that time. You can steal a steak and sell it. You can steal a TV and watch it.

The spirit of the discussion is the direct intent of theft is either for an immediate need of a basic necessity of food, or the non-necessity of a luxury like a tv. Leave it at that concept.

  • As some have already mentioned - coriolis forces. But why not build bigger so coriolis forces aren’t an issue? Because spinning up anything of sufficient diameter to even come close to 1G would need some kind of unobtainium to be strong enough to keep the spinning object intact. Say 5 tons of mass at 0 G is just mass, but now accelerate it and you need to figure out how to support 5 tons.

1 rpm for 1 G is going to need almost 1km radius. 2 rpm is ~400m.

You can see that the numbers, size, and engineering get pretty ridiculous to keep people from being sick when spun.

  • The distinction you’re trying to make is stealing luxuries vs stealing necessities. Sure, we could argue basically “fuck megacorps” and that’s debatable to steal whatever, but this is about us.

If someone’s stealing the basic necessities like food, nobody saw shit.

If you’re stealing a TV, that just makes you a thief.

  • I tried this. The hotels attached the room and date on the lost item, so unless you’ve got those they aren’t going to give you anything if you can’t match them. Maybe some others don’t, so worth a try anyway?

  • No it wasn‘t.

  • “Freedom”?

Freedom to get fucked by the wealthy, maybe.

  • I don’t think 2 x a week is a good workout. I seem to recall reading somewhere that strenuous 2 x week workouts can be stressful on the body vs how much benefit it offers. Note: twice weekly modest workouts are very helpful.

Try reducing the length of the run and/or substituting fast walk warmup and cooldowns, and adding a gym or some other workout to bring it up to 3x workouts in a week.

  • Even if I don’t listen to GWAR I always appreciated their theatrical presentation. Good to know they’re also on the right side of history.

  • It‘s like photoshop pre-subscription. Just the menus and keyboard shortcuts are a little different. It‘s all I‘ve used for years now, I wouldn‘t know what to do with any other program.
