  • Oh right, I need to watch Trick r Treat again

  • Yeah, I’ve seen this one more

  • VideoGameJams

Was a website of midi versions of video game songs and also had guitar tabs for the songs. I would legitimately just listen to those versions of the songs themselves.

  • Loops

  • Is it bad that I agree? Eff TikTok

  • I don’t get that feeling at all. Maybe your instance isn’t federated with many other instances?

Also, what’s the comparison for what “alive” looks like? Lemmy’s like the message board I always wanted.

  • I hadn’t considered the dark arts… lions can’t do magic, so that’s obviously an advantage for the knight.

  • If the arena is a forest, I think you’re right that there’s a chance the knight plucks up the courage to fight and the lion runs away. In that case, the knight would be called the victor.

But if it’s a smaller arena… and the lion can’t flee… well then you’ve got a big cat cornered with a decision to fight for its life. I’ve seen an 8lb house cat cornered in real life by a human before and it was terrifying.

  • Yeah, but like, seeing a 2-inch by 2-inch medieval depiction of what a lion is and actually seeing a 420lb roaring beast are two different things. They didn’t have TV or Internet, so like, most people on the planet would never be within 100 miles of a lion in their whole lives.

    Nam sayin’?

  • Winner: Lion (in round 1)

I think you gotta consider that a knight has likely never seen a lion or a beast of such proportions before. If you put the knight into a moderate-sized arena with a large cat, I’m willing to bet the bravery of the knight fails him and he is mauled to death by the lion.

It all comes down to the mental game.

  • Oh dang, this rings a bell!!!

Any idea of what year you first encountered this game? Also what console it might have been on?

My mind first jumped to Siphon Filter, but I didn’t find footage of a silo that launches missiles at you.

  • YES EXACTLY! Learning how to set up a good test and a good control and then having the willpower to execute that and come to a conclusion… I swear that’s what will keep me employed into old age.

  • Honestly, the problem I encounter most with junior devs is that no one taught them to use the scientific method when trying to troubleshoot issues. Seems like everyone wants the answer to be handed to them on a platter and that just ain’t the way it goes.

  • Definitely sounds like a trap.

(What follows is a slightly unrelated anecdote.) I knew a guy who was a tax preparer back in 2009 when Obama put out the “Making Work Pay” stimulus. You basically got a tax refund of like $400 per person if you met a pretty lenient criteria.

Well, my buddy told me that during the 2009 tax season, he would constantly have people coming into his office trying to file taxes, but they hadn’t filed in a few years. After hours of getting their paperwork together and running through the tax schedules for each year, the tax payer would find out that they owed thousands of dollars in back payments. Rather than file their taxes and paying the delinquent taxes, they would just say “yeah, all I wanted was the $400” and just walk out.

I’m sure the IRS cleaned up that year if anyone who owed was bold enough to actually file.

  • YUP

  • I once was on stage doing comedy and was surprisingly killing it. I pivoted and made a joke about how being anti-vax was stupid and everyone hushed up real quick.

That’s when I knew I was surrounded by fucking morons. (Morons who loved jokes about putting your groceries into a Dolce & Gabana store bag so you can feel superior to the other shoppers.)

  • Zed’s dead, baby. Zed’s dead.

  • Without a doubt yes. Why? Because I bet the customer service and wait time at the 2nd one is better.

I’m too damn grumpy for that.
