  • I wouldn't worry about being tan here, we are diverse. And I don't borrow trouble. But those requirements are insane for someone just visiting.

If it's for work and he has the return ticket he'd probably be fine - our European/Asian/Australian employees have been coming here for meetings no problem but -

They land in Tampa or Orlando not Miami or Jax

They have round trip tickets and an agenda for what they will be doing (not an hour by hour thing, but a purpose for being here)

I don't think there will be trouble but why risk it, and why not vote with your dollars or Euros and not come? That is the only language the fuckers at the top speak.

(I do not think it's nice to say Caucasian is a standard human though)

  • Like more vertical height in torso, not just long legs. Lots of room between crotch and natural waist. I am like that, but tall clothing seems to think tall women are short women on stilts. I do not need more inseam, I need higher rise because I'm long waisted.

  • Can confirm. Am same 5'9".

Like there are two measuring systems. One for guys that rounds up by a few inches. What also is funny is I am keeping my height better than my husband (yoga really rocks for that), but he is always taller than me in his mind, and probably always will be.

  • Office so close I can bike in 10 minutes or walk in 20, with a pretty flexible schedule. I like it better than WFH because I give up none of my house for work now. Oh and they close the office from Christmas Eve through New Years day, I have never before worked anywhere that does that.

Lots of PTO days but it's hard to take them (too many busy days at work, not enough staff.) I schedule little 1-2 day offs for every month at least though, and usually a week off in the summer.

  • I was lucky enough to have not just free time, but some rare time alone today. I watched Frieren, deep watered the baby veg that are still in pots, and went for a pokemon go walk.

  • Subs here split a length of baguette or Cuban bread, or long bun. But not all the way through. Then they open it like a hot dog bun & put in the fillings. I hate hot dogs but if a sub is a sandwich, a hot dog is a sandwich.

  • What the fuck? Were there so few participants that 3rd was a bad result? High school has four years, right? 4th, 3rd, 2nd, 1st place, seems to me you were on track.

  • It's normal & I don't care, only care about behavior - I expect straight guys are looking at women, aware of attractive women, notice nice figures, men are very visual in general, nothing bad about it. And I expect gay guys are constantly checking out men as well.

Bad is remarking on it all the time, touching, staring really hard when the lady looks uncomfortable about the staring, looking at boobs when someone is talking to you - you already know all this! Just noticing, you aren't going to be able to turn that off and ought not if you could.

Me, I notice looks but not often turned on by anyone's look. And I notice guys looking and do not care, don't think it means anything.

  • Sure. Jehovah's witnesses, Baptists, and Miss Mary, mom of a friend of one of my kids, nice lady but the only fundamentalist Catholic I've ever met, so many kids that each one got a birthday party every 5 years (but a BIG party), we went to one and there was a pony, little tables set up in their yard for the kids, she wrote a song as a present for her kid and sang it, that was nice, and when the kids were getting their pictures taken, said "say Jesus!" to get them to smile.

Oh and once when I was a kid my friend took me to their church and there was speaking in tongues, they did not want me to leave without being overcome and speaking in tongues that was kind of terrifying.

There also used to be a church near us called "The Church of Christ Upon the Rock of the Apostolic Faith Holy Temple #2" . Which always made me wonder where the first one was.

  • Somewhat tangential but you should read the story of how WaWa did an end run around a corporate takeover.

T-Mobile had the worst customer service of any company I have dealt with, then had a turnaround to the best customer service of any company, but now, sadly, not so great. Though not nearly as bad as it was to start.

  • Yes, even better looking now and oh so photogenic.

  • If you like ginger beer, and pineapple, home fermented ginger beer and tepache de piña are both really easy to make - they do have sugar but less than coke, and have probiotics, and about as much alcohol as kombucha.

I do like diet Coke but mostly try to be very moderate and when I want something sweet & fizzy, these homemade sodas are so good.

  • Huh. Stevia is one I cannot stand. And Monk fruit. Wish I couldn't taste those, they wreck anything they touch.

  • Yes, either the fan, or gentle psybient music, something. Because it's never silent, and earplugs make me cough, I need sleepy sounds.

ETA I also love when a neighbor has a party, sleeping to the distant sounds of a party, music and all, relaxes my mind so much. I think my subconscious must figure things are ok if people are partying. I have had sometimes the opportunity to sleep above a dance club and that also was so nice.

  • My kids used to laugh at me for eating one half of the twix & putting it away for another day, and an emergency chocolate bar at work will last me weeks. It's not willpower - if I had to TRY not to eat it all, I wouldn't buy it either.

I think about this when people say those GLP drugs are cheating, that people should just use willpower, I think all they are doing is giving people the same experience many of us have naturally - I love food but not overeating, that doesn't feel good at all, and enjoy moving my body, I like dancing and exercise.

  • People must be made so different. Exercise is the main factor in my size & weight. Like, even getting a job where I have to go up the stairs makes a difference.

And remember that there are so many benefits to exercise, beyond body shape. Cardio is so good for your heart and helps ease anxiety, lifting is so good for your bones, yoga helps keep you resilient & mobile so you don't break when you fall down, and helps with balance.

All of them help offset all the sitting most of us have to do at work.

  • Real leather and good quality do eventually cost less if you keep them & take care of them (get the heels re-capped, etc.) so look for a timeless style like a 3.5 inch heel pump in black, calfskin if you can get that. I had some from the 1990s I just gave to my youngest kid's girlfriend because I don't wear heels anymore. They still look good, never seem to go out of date. Those were expensive Stuart Weitzman ones, you can sometimes get them on clearance for about $100 if you get lucky. I liked his because they had a 10 narrow, long enough but no slipping around on my feet, I could walk well in them without getting blisters.

  • This takes practice and depends a lot on your foot shape but Naturalizer are usually good, and some are good looking.

I've never had a high heel break though, how in the world are you walking that's breaking them?

  • I stay in my same body, at the same age I am now, keep all my teeth, etc? I am nearsighted, it's gonna be difficult.

What happens when I pass the day I am born, though? Are there 2 of me?

I don't think I'd change the timeline much anyway, it seems hard to. Though I'd love to become a lawyer and advise Al Gore against conceding the election he won. Even if I ceased to exist that might be worth it.
