  • I mean, I am applying various kinds of science but I'm not actually doing any science so I'm not thinking about myself as a scientist. What I do is solving problems - I'm an engineer.

  • The phrase "low T hipsters" is enough for me to know that I don't care about this person's opinion.

  • As a huge NixOS enthusiast I wholeheartedly agree with you. It works amazing for me but only because my autistic ass hyperfixated on it to the point of tinkering with it every afternoon for months.

I would love to be able to recommend NixOS to people but unfortunately, the lack of good documentation is a huge problem.

  • LSB and RSB are so much better in my opinion. They actually have meaning so you don't have to remeber an arbitrary number.

  • They could choose any name other that L3 and R3 though.

  • R1, R2 and R3 are endlessly confusing to me. I still mix them up sometimes after over a year of owning PS5. It makes no sense that they aren't in any order! It should be 1 - trigger, 2 - bumper, 3 - stick or in reverse. In order in the top - down axis.

  • Thanks for the answer!

  • Thanks for the answer! This sounds terryfing indeed. By bootstrapping, do you mean like an initial mass build without anything in store?

  • This post exactly expresses my thoughts from some months ago. However, I wasn't motivated enough to actually post it. Thanks for reading in my mind and asking that for me, I appreciate it.

  • Could you say a bit more about that? I was actually wondering about the exact same thing as OPs question. Is the performance so bad that it doesn't even make sense to consider this as an option? Idk, just like OP I feel like it's such an obvious use case that it really should be a thing.

  • Wow, this is so fucking pretty! Unfortunately, I don't really have a need for local music files player, but I love it.

  • I mean, I guess it's kinda hard to say what exactly OP means without more details. It could be an incel who wants romantic a relationship but completely misunderstands women. But it could be also just a normal person wanting a sexual relationship and not knowing how to start one.

  • Haha, of course not to you but I'm sure it does to some.

BTW, what do you consider good shoes? Any recommendations? I really struggle with this. For the colder and wetter part of the year I usually wear Salomon trail runners and I love their all-terrain, all-weather properties. They have one weak spot though - the heel counters wear out well before anything else in the shoe which overall seems rather indestructible. How did they fuck this up?!

But for the summer... I literally haven't found a shoe which would be suitable for very long walks in various terrains and weather conditions and would be also breathable and light.

  • I want to second this. I know it sounds crazy but walking has changed my life.

  • Exactly the same for me. I was worried people will not get it but it has never been a problem for almost 2 years now.

  • I would say NixOS might be even more cultish. I am a part of that cult.

  • If I'm actually reading with the goal of thorough understanding then it will take as long as reading it aloud or longer. I can still skim through the text faster, but I will understand less of it.

The Wikipedia article on subvocalization has a section on speed reading. It seems that subvocalizing can in fact limit the reading speed.

  • This is not a good explanation because as someone already pointed out a lot of (most?) people do "read the words aloud in their head". For me, I often even make tiny moves of my tongue and larynx - see subvocalization.

  • Literally the point of money is to exchange it for something.
