  • Wow! That is so awesome and I'm super jealous! I discovered a park semi-close to me last spring that has a bit of a Mallard population, and apparently seasonal Gadwalls. As you might imagine, they're not super interested in most humans, but still super fun to watch.

  • What got you into that? How long have you been doing it? What kind of ducks?

  • I'm not familiar with Detroiters. I'll try to check it out.

  • I wouldn't say this is my favorite TV episode ever, but my favorite episode from a specific show that I don't see mentioned elsewhere: Corporate "Natural Beauty" (Season 2, Episode 3). It pokes fun at the different expectations, etc., that men and women face, particularly in the workplace.

The opening scene shows the female character going through her long morning routine, with occasional cuts to the male character repeatedly hitting the snooze button before rolling out of bed and spending 30 seconds getting dressed. When they each arrive at the office, he's complimented on his appearance, and she's told that she looks tired.

  • Nah, but the closest he ever comes to acting "excited" is when he's upset. For string cheese or kibble (his other favorite), he'll get close by, then just sit and stare. He might reach out with a paw if I ignore him, but he's kinda aloof. He's also very much a grazer, and not super food motivated. In fact, when he was an only kitty, I'd throw a treat, he'd chase it, catch it, then look up at me to throw the next instead of eating it. So, I'd throw a few, then pick them all up and throw them again and again, and eventually he'd start eating them. Once I adopted a second cat, he learned to eat them right away.

My other cat had digestive troubles for the first year, so I haven't given him any cheese, but he's way more food motivated and often yells at me while I'm taking too long to prepare his meals. If he ever catches on to the cheese thing, he'd probably have a similar response to your cat.

  • How did you figure out it was being rejected? I had some issues a while back trying to post a picture of my cat, but I just gave up.

  • Mine also loves mozzarella! No matter how much I try to be quiet, any time I open a string cheese, he's there in 2 seconds.

  • If you're buying packaged stuff, buy it in the hard plastic containers, not the soft plastic bags. The hard plastic protects it much better during transit, and can easily last a week for me before getting soggy and gross.

  • On the floor of a closet in a cheap hotel. With the closet door closed.

  • This sounds too good to be true. What's the catch?

  • Is this one of those times where someone intentionally makes an inaccurate statement (title) in order to increase engagement?

  • I've heard that some apps may make it a little too easy for some users to accidentally up/down vote without realizing. I've definitely caught a few accidental votes myself, so I'm not sure how many more I didn't notice. Also, totally random anecdote, but the pockets in my "house pants" have a weird fabric that combined with the on body detection to keep my phone unlocked sometimes allows my thighs to "butt dial" if I put my phone in my pocket with the screen facing my body, and I'm sure other people have similar stories about accidental inputs, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

  • I'm so sorry. I went through something similar myself, including one doctor who told me that I couldn't possibly have ADHD since people with ADHD supposedly don't get depressed. I tried being patient and played along for quite a while and have been through so many antidepressants. It wasn't until my mid-20s, and dropping out of college twice that I finally got anyone to listen to me. Cherry on the cake? Suddenly my parents finally believed me, and my youngest sibling was diagnosed shortly after.

I would suggest calling around some places that aren't covered by your insurance (specifically psychiatrists that list ADHD as a specialty), as they may offer lower prices for "self pay" patients. I think the one I saw when I was uninsured charged under $100/visit, and once we found a good dosage, they'd write me 3 months worth of prescriptions at a time. Now that I have a formal diagnosis and a history of being prescribed ADHD medication, getting a new doctor to prescribe the same medication has been much easier.

  • My current phone game is ∞ Loop. Just a simple puzzle-type game.

I also like a variety of solitaire card games, but the app I used to like has become quite enshittified, and I haven't found a good replacement.

  • My oldest is pretty cuddly, but only on his terms, so I'm always excited to curl up on the couch or in bed and enjoy some snuggle time. If I have the energy, I might do some play time with the wand toy or some clicker training with their favorite treats. If I'm feeling more lazy, just tossing treats... They love chasing them!

I think they'll let you know what they want. I definitely feel you on the urge to go over the top with spoiling them, but what they probably appreciate most is just having you back. I've come to realize that most of my efforts to spoil my cats are more about me than they are about the cats.

  • I feel ya. Currently trying to figure out how to get out of upcoming holiday travels since dragging them along won't be an option.

I guess I also look forward to the extra affection they give me when I return, and usually try to plan for a "decompression" day (or at least half day) as soon as I return so that I can take full advantage.

  • I have gradually set up cameras all throughout my home so that I can peek in on them whenever I feel like it. I also just avoid leaving for extended periods and/or drag them along with me.

  • I'm not really concerned that my 2 views aren't counted as 2 separate views, but if it had 8 views when you watched it, shouldn't it have at least 9 views when I watched it after reading your comment?

  • I've been using whatbox as my seed box for nearly 10 years now. I'm on their USD 15/month plan, and they've upgraded my storage & bandwidth twice now in that time without increasing my costs.
