    Holy fucking shit man, the only thing I'm responding to is the idea that Biden doesn't "owe us shit" because the US electorate was mean to him. Biden owes us the full execution of his duty to the best of his abilities from now until the day he leaves the presidency.

    Not to mention that the very topic of the post and article is literally a suggestion from a Congresscritter.

  • I think the road to my suffering from hatred is far shorter than the road from utter callousness to my suffering.

    Maybe people with hate in their hearts are redeemable (though I think this is often overstated by people who don't understand just how deeply rooted hate is, and how few people actually escape from it), while the sociopathically callous are not. But of the two, one will dedicate far more resources to see me suffer, while the other will only see me suffer if it is convenient for them, and on that very practical consideration, I prefer dealing with the callous over the hate-filled.

    It's the same reason I would prefer living under the coldness of the French Republic as an impoverished Jew in the late 1930s over Nazi Germany.

  • Marx opined that certain material conditions had to be achieved before a socialist state could be successfully made. These material conditions include bourgeois capitalist democracy. Marx explicitly said that capitalism forges the tools with which it will be destroyed.

    A certain subset of communists known as Marxist-Leninists decided that bourgeois capitalist democracy wasn't necessary if you just oppressed people REALLY hard, you could skip straight to a socialist state. And because they 'succeeded' in overthrowing traditional Marxists in 1917 Russia and getting the full power of a massive country to spread their ideology, they've had bootlickers calling their particular brand of insanity the only 'real' form of communism ever since.

    When we think of 'communist' countries, we think of Marxist-Leninist countries which tried to jump from feudal societies to socialist societies, which, quite obviously from the results, doesn't work. Doesn't stop the cultists from licking boots, of course.
