I was born here and grew up here and I can tell you with no doubt that this place is far right wing evangelical. So far right that Asheville has the center for Billy Graham's cult and Ridgecrest. No they think Catholics are not Christian. I really have no idea why he converted to Catholicism other than he is willing to change his face to get what he wants.

Yeah I got in an argument with a former friend about that. He just kept repeating “shall not be infringed” over and over. I stopped my truck and pulled up the 2nd Amendment and told him to read it. He shut the fuck up. Look I am a 2nd Amendment guy but that amendment implies that as citizens we are obligated to be part of the state defense force if the need arises. With what the Republicans are doing right now and the speed of Project 2025 being put into place we need to look to coming together to defend out communities. Or maybe I am just paranoid. I hope I am wrong.

I live in the South. Do not think for one fucking minute that the red states will not comply with Mango Mussolini. We are heading to a civil war. Hell we have been in a cold civil war since Reconstruction. It really got ramped up after Nixon. I am at a point where I am buying guns, ammo, and dry goods because I fear what is coming. Some of the people you think are your friends will betray you. We are headed for dark times and I really don't know what to do.

I have no fucking sympathy for these people what's so fucking ever. I'm exhausted. We yelled and yelled and yelled that this shit would happen from the fucking highest mountain in America and they just shrugged their shoulders and pointed it some trans kid just trying to be fucking left alone or some fucking Mexican working on the side of the road thinking that that mother fucker is going to take your job. Oh that's just like the DNC. They never fight. Just look at the North Carolina dnc. Tim Moore is up for reelection and the woman they have put up against him they have done absolutely nothing to get her message out or their message out or any message out. I have only seen one little tiny sign at the Democratic headquarters and then a big ass Roy Cooper sign. They have no fight in them at all. And their whole mantra is vote blue no matter who what choice do I have not vote?

As a former National Guard officer I am concerned that the Guard will be turned on us and most of the Guardsman will not push back. I live in the South and I know most of the state governors will do nothing. I hope the blue state governors do something. I hope the Guardsman remember their oath. I am not hopeful. Prepare for the worst.

While I have been voting blue no matter who because if how fascist the GOP it has left a bad taste in my mouth. Now that more progressive candidates are rising it will be interesting to see if they shoe can be put on the other foot. Will the moderates and neo-liberals in the DNC still vote blue no matter who? The moderates maybe but the neo-libs will get butthurt and either not vote or work to sabotage the progressive candidates.

Let me say this to my progressive brothers and sisters. The gun issue is going to keep driving people away who would be on your side. I went to the one right after Covid. I was on Facebook then and was begged to come and was ignored the whole time I was there. I chatted with a few people but slowed realized I did not know these people and it was clear they did not care to know me. I left after an hour. I don't know man. You can never go home I suppose. Or maybe I am just an asshole.

I don't remember the term for this but I came to a realization a few years ago that almost all of the people I know do not value me. I had to force my way into the group things that we did and inviting me was always an afterthought for them. If they were doing things as a group I had to invite myself. I would call myself a B-list friend but I really wasn't even that; however, if they needed something then I got a call or a text. You know what? I would jump at it and be there.

A few years ago a fiend of mine died suddenly. Covid got him and he never really recovered because he stupidly did not get the vaccine. When He died I reevaluated a lot of long time friendships and because the long journey of realizing most people are not really your friend even the ones who were in your life long term.

To add. About 15 years ago I got divorced. Come to find out she was fucking a whole coven of witches. Anyway, I moved out and have been on my own all this time. I have grown into doing all things by myself and truthfully now that I am in my 60s I would not have it any other way.

I just wish I would have learned this in my 20s but it seems that I thought that if I was just there enough and helpful enough that they would see my worth. I was wrong. A lot of this same group is wanting me to come ton the 45 year high school reunion. Ten years ago I might have gone but not now.
