  • Yes it will. None of the current AI companies are profitable, have never been profitable and most likely will never be profitable. Their business model simply isn't economically sustainable. What is being invested in AI is basically imaginary money in a circle-jerk of companies like Nvidia, Anthropic, OpenAI and others. This artificially bloats their value and there is zero chance in hell that the AI bubble will not burst like nothing ever has before.

    This is not to say that LLMs and other fancy jargon generators cannot be useful. They absolutely can. What will probably happen is that people will realize that they are just fancy guessing machines without real understanding behind and learn to use them in that way. I hope at least.

  • I think the way some vegans see this is that the definition of what constitues as murder is precisely the thing that is under debate here and should be extended to include deliberately and in a planned manner taking any life.

  • It's probably more relevant if the cow considers them sexual.

    I doubt it would serve as a defence if you grabbed someones boobs or dick and later in court explained that you don't consider those body parts sexual.

  • Well, to be honest, your country attacking your country isn't that far off with the talk about taking Greenland by force. It would kind of mean that USA is at war with itself having attacked a fellow NATO member (Denmark). Attack against one is an attack against everyone, including the USA.

    I occasionally do counting/following breathing at start, especially if there is lots of "noise" in my head. Not sure that would count as actual anapanasati, but I guess that's a line drawn on water in the end.

    I do not find concentrative states offputting as such, just maybe not all that useful for me in the long run.

  • I do it daily by myself and irregularily with a group of friends of mine (sort of weekly our timetables permitting). I've also participated in a few day sesshins once or twice a year for over ten years.
