  • You're installing a headless system right? Ubuntu and Debian are going to have very similar if not downright identical day to day operating procedures, including installing and setting up new things. Ubuntu is going to have software packages coming from a different repository and they may be newer (though this rarely matters) and the initial install may be different. One is backed by a for profit corporation and one by a large open source community. Whenever you need help, guides for Debian will probably work on Ubuntu and vice versa.

For home self hosting use, it boils down to you own philosophy. In practice, it won't really matter.. they're both really similar.

    I proudly use Debian BTW.

  • From dust we came to dust we return. All things are as they should be.

  • Cause it is generated. There are some mistakes in it, but I personally only notice them after a more in depth look. The biggest tell for me is the piss filter. A lot of these will be yellow toned for some reason. Also makes the image look more warm. Warm like piss.

  • I've heard the exact same beep from AC units.

    Wouldn't some superb owls tbh.

  • I've realized the most efficient way to succeed in life (hours spent studying vs perceived achievement) is to be able to talk to people and talk to them well. If you're born with a golden mouth, you're set.

  • Linux users will probably tell you their id if you ask them nicely and seem interested in their distro of choice.

  • Damn, now they have to make an alternator to spec without any tools or even raw materials with the knowledge they have in their heads. Time to dig for copper I guess.. whoops no shovels either..

  • Yeah, Tempo hasn't had any updates in a while. I used it originally, but moved to this fork.

  • Damn, law and finance seem boring as fuck.

  • We like to look at this era through rose tinned glasses. You had not a lot of processing power, not a lot of storage space, insecure code (and internet) everywhere, flimsy methods of portable storage and slow network transfer speeds. A lot of software was not mature enough for everyday use. Energy inefficient. Yet, we made it work.It was in some ways romantic, computers were a cool thing, not a necessity for everyday life (yes, I'm counting phones as computers - fight me). That's what I miss the most. We weren't connected all the time and the software market space was unexplored and unexploited. It felt new and exciting, but it was flawed in so many ways. This counts both for pc's and the internet.

  • Am I exempt from tipping and the no tipping shame if I walk over to the chef to order and pick up the food myself? Because if the customers are the ones who must pay the servers a living wage via tipping, which is optional, that must mean the service itself is optional and I can do it myself.Tipping presents a philosophical problem for me, and I just can not do it. Luckily, I live in a nation where its not done and service is not optional and I can not go to the chef to order my own food so the restaurant provides the service of a server (and pays them a wage).

  • Loada of sites just dont work in FF.

Which ones? I want to see for myself what I'm missing out on.

  • In my mind, nothing with a circuit board is disposable. Pains me to see it.

  • Oh wow! Switzerland! How did you get so big!?

  • Thanks other me. I know me when I see me.
