A soup.

  • My French wife can’t take ChatGPT seriously because of this lmao

  • I can tell you right now that something like a username and password is exceptionally difficult for most users. Many just have one password for every single application and if they need to use a different email or password, they will be stuck.

The vast overwhelming majority of users do not have password managers, do not know they exist, and will give up at the first sign of complexity. You’re too far into the weeds if you don’t conceptualize this.

  • The overall vast majority of everyone is completely tech illiterate. We can blame them for their lack of tech skills all we want but that won’t change anything. Jellyfin needs a better UX before it’s feasible to use over Plex when sharing libraries with other users.

  • Yes and anyone else who isn’t able to spell colour properly.

  • You’re right. There’s absolutely no evidence of Trump being not of sound mind.

  • I sat in the room as my wife experienced the most brutal pain she has ever gone through. That woman has such a high pain tolerance that she scares me. And yet I felt sick just hearing her. The fact that they don’t anesthetize for this is criminal and fucking embarrassing as a society.

  • Ya building computers is trivial :) just expensive Lego really. Built my first gaming pc when I moved out and have built a couple more since then. My original gaming pc is now my home server :) lots to learn!

  • Hey same childhood! My dad would yell at the top of his lungs at my mom and call her a stupid bitch and she would sit there and take it and then silently cry in the kitchen and then ground me when I tried to hug her 🙂

Learned the shit out of computers. They’re the only things in my life that don’t yell at me (if we ignore error messages).

  • It would require them to think and then they wouldn’t be maple maggots anymore.

  • Thank you for this. It’s beautiful.

  • Highly specialized people live in bubbles and assume that everyone else lives in their same bubble and so if someone else doesn’t understand, they aren’t worth communicating with.

  • In my experience, all the Linux documentation I have read has been written for peers of Linux developers, who are familiar with technical terminology and several concepts and steps are left out and implied rather than explained.

It’s a way for developers to ensure that Linux never receives adoption past other developers. Literary equivalent of pulling the ladder up.

  • For me it’s because Nextcloud also has a mobile app and it’s easy to transfer files between my iPhone and my server and other computers.

I can even create public folders easily so I can share data with people I give the link to.

  • I’ve been self hosting Nextcloud for over a year now. Fantastic. It’s like OneDrive. Syncs all my files on my computers so I’ve got multiple backups on different machines with one central location (the server running Nextcloud).

Tons of plugins and documentation, so any errors you may have are easily fixed. Haven’t had it mess up on me once. It just works.

  • Me at 25 more like.

  • I learned this as a kid being bullied. Bullies get scared of you if you seem to like being bullied.

Just act like a lunatic and a proper bully will start to get scared.

  • OUI, COMMENCONS AVEC LA LANGUE ET DES PETITES ROUES POUR LES PIEDS!!!

  • Agreed. I was at a party and I got blackout drunk and regained my awareness as I was sitting on a log barfing. To my right is a psychology student holding my shoulders and stroking my hair. She then walks me home, invites herself in, empties the entire contents of her purse in my shared living room, then takes me back to my room and rides me for an undisclosed amount of time.

Psychology student sex was weird that one time.

And don’t even get me started on civil engineers…
