  • The tool method seems to be proven true. I've heard that you buy the cheapest tool until you get one that does the job for you. Like if the cheapest tool breaks on you, you move a step up above it until you're comfortable with the value and quality of a tool that both does its job and lasts a long time.

    You can apply that to many things.

  • I have yet to hear a baby cry so loudly that I can hear it through my walls. So far in the 3 years I've lived here, not one instance can I recall or know of babies crying that loudly. Kids, who're able to talk and walk, they can be loud yes but they're manageable. It's lazy parenting that lets them be that way. Pets, generally, they're going to be loud and they're hard to control because nobody puts in the effort.

    Now I have a question back at you - did you read the part where I said that some owners fucking suck at being owners or did you selectively skip that part to make the comment that you've made? Learn to read, it'd help you sometime.

  • How is the Discord way anti-consumer? Here, let me walk through to you the steps:

    I go to Subscriptions on the app, I see my subscriptions now, I see a button that says Cancel. I click it, a window pops up that says I can Continue or Nevermind. Right now I'd Continue but I don't want to because I'm on a month trial, but I do imagine that by clicking Continue, it'll end things with a notification that tells me I've unsubscribed.

    How is that process anti-consumer? It's stupid easy to understand. I think you're just arguing for the sake of arguing.

  • No, it absolutely does have something to do with people's intelligence. Because if you can't seem to follow the prompts there to cancel? Yeah, you're kind of dumb.

    It's different than in Amazon's case where sometimes they'll flip the buttons on you, tricking you to resume. That kind of thing is anti-consumer.

    Now if you want a pain in the ass subscription to get rid of, I'll say Amazon that requires you 4 - 5 clicks to get rid of it as they're pleading with you to stay.

  • I'm a little on the flipside with this one. I'm figuring it out that some of the best things out there, aren't usually the ones that cost a premium. It just boils down to what that something is and whether you want it's best version. Like, some of the brand-names in stores aren't usually some of the best that's out there compared to generic brands. I know this from some of the review videos I've watched like Project Farm on YouTube.

  • I'm going to step in and kindly disagree. You're living one life, your own. When you've experienced what you feel that there is to experience and all that, then things stop being personally exciting for you. Everyone's lives is different from one another with shared generalities.

  • I generally do not care that much about my privacy unless:

    I'm confronting an individual who has too much disposable time to themselves to openly dox me down to where I work to threaten it.

    Data/Security breaches where the company goes "uhhh...whoopsie!" in response.

    Bank accounts suddenly having transactions I know I didn't authorize.

    Other than that, I'm one of the few that aren't too tied up with shrouding everything I do online. It just seems more like that if I act more suspicious, then it'll attract people who keenly want to know more about me than I'd like. I just know enough not to do stupid things like making my real name my screen name or shamelessly sharing info and pretend that it won't be tracked or traced.

    If you cover your tracks better, things are fine. It's just you're more annoyed with specific ads based on your preferences.

  • I would say I'm 75% addicted. Like without it, if it shuts off for prolonged periods, what am I down to? I'm down to just books and whatever I acquired to make available offline like downloaded games and I've got quite a media collection going to delve into.

    What I'll miss the most of it is being in contact with those I've established a connection with such as online friends. The longer I go without speaking to them, the more things will feel hollow.
