  • One that I like is toasted peanut butter sandwiches with an onion slice in the middle. And dipped in tomato soup is so delicious.

  • Apparently Rally’s/Checker’s fries with honey mustard 🤷‍♂️ I don’t like those seasoned fries by themselves, but they’re bomb af with honey mustard. But they don’t seem to carry honey mustard anymore at the location closest to me :/

  • My dad was in a really bad mood and overly negative. I didn’t want a party or anything anyway, but I didn’t want to be in a negative place and be around him when he was just complaining about everything.

I didn’t know at the time, but he had recently found out that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and not only that, his former health insurance had hid the diagnosis from him for over 6 months while he was in pain and waiting for an answer. Probably because of his age and they thought they’d just wait him out and let him die. That very likely led to it metastasizing throughout his body and causing all sorts of problems and his eventual death. He tried suing the insurance company but no lawyer wanted to take them on because they’re massive.

    Ah…sorry for the tangent.

Though the next few birthdays weren’t bad or good, just okay which is how I like it. I don’t want to celebrate it, but people acknowledging it feels nice.

  • I got jumped and I yelled back “effing assholes” just like that. We all got the same punishment, them for beating me up and me for “profanity”.

    Fuck that school lol

  • Speculation. Everyone is hoping that the memecoin will get them rich like Doge did for some people because of the lulz.

Using the Hawk Tuah girl/memecoin as the most recent example, average people buying into it were hoping it would increase in value because of other people wanting it just for the sake of it being a funny meme at one time. The devs behind the memecoin were along the same thought process, but there seems to be some speculation they had some malicious intent and might have scammed people. About 80% of the coin is held up with the devs which meant there wasn’t a lot of room for it to actually grow.

  • I just gave away my Chromebook to someone who was affected by a local natural disaster and I ended up putting Linux Mint on it for them.

I think that distro would get you this experience.

Honestly, I’d recommend getting a used laptop. Get one that’s 5 years or newer. You don’t need the best hardware, so as little as 4GB of RAM and 128GB SSD should suit you fine. But you can get more if you’d like for better performance. You shouldn’t have to pay anymore than $150 USD for something like this in my area. Your area may vary, depending on availability. I’d recommend staying away from HP only because I have encountered issues in the past with them making it slightly more difficult than others to install another OS than Windows on. It’s not impossible, but they just do stuff that adds an extra layer.

If you’d like something else other than Linux Mint, I’d suggest looking into Ubuntu, PopOS, Vanilla OS, for some other very friendly, lite versions of Linux that are easy to set up and very good for basic tasks.

  • Which model is that?? I love my gas blowbacks for the realism feel and sound. Had no idea they had any with shell ejection.

I have a gas Kriss Vector blowback. I always wanted one and shelled out $300 for a used one after they were discontinued off eBay. I’ve gotten a lot of other players commenting on it when at the fields.

  • I hope I’m like you when I’m that age too! Toys are meant for playing with. Don’t forget the sound effects next time! lol

  • That’s a tough one. I’m sure he’d love you to enjoy every last drop, but when it’s gone, it’ll be gone.

  • Oh man you just brought all these memories for me. This was my first intro to memes back in high school and my friend showing me the Can I Haz Cheeseburger site.

    Yearbook class was the best.

  • Hilarious chaos has been pretty cool in this regard. I like that the admins don’t take themselves seriously and are very active here.

  • That’s interesting, I’ve never heard that before. I’ll have to see, maybe I’m wrong lol.

  • I see it a lot in online comments. Not so much on Lemmy but other places like YouTube and Instagram.

  • Using “women” for the singular use. I don’t understand how this happens because it couldn’t be more clear if you sound out the word.

    Woman = 1 person

Women = 2 or more persons

Why everyone resorts to only using “women” baffles me.

  • Personally, I can only think of one which was my great uncle who works for NASA. He was an atheist for all of my life (30+ years) until a few years ago when he came to visit us and began coming to church and explained that he’s now a Christian.

I haven’t asked his reasons why but I am curious what led to his conversion. Most of my family is Christian, but no one, as far as I know, pressured him to change or mocked him for his (lack of) belief. The topic of religion never came up in family gatherings besides having a circle of hands and prayer before dinner.

  • Completely? Witness a series of murders by a high profile criminal and get witness protection.

Or call that guy in New Mexico for a specific vacuum package.

  • Fucking this so much.

There’s an outage but it’s not my week. How about I only get notified if someone tags me instead of getting 50 notifications in the middle of the night that have nothing to do with me??

Recently, it seems that whenever I go on lunch, that is when people decide to start spamming the group chats. Really fun trying to watch a video or listen to music on my phone and have to be spammed with those notifications.

And the best I can do, as far as I know on my iPhone, is to swipe the notification and block for an hour or block for the day. But there lies the problem…if someone needs to ping me, then I miss out on that notification..

  • You reminded me how Teams defaults to emoji when typing too.

I’ve had times where I’m making a point like “ Here is a point (here is context): “ and Teams will turn that last ): to a sad face emoji….

It’s been a while since I’ve encountered that, but I had no idea how to undo it and it irritates me that they default to emojis over grammar for a work-first application.
