  • I am not sure if I agree that this was started to distract from the epstein files, but I also don't disagree.

But as it stands? fuckface all but prostrated himself and sucked off the supreme leader on TV (nothing wrong with blowing someone but it would obviously be an act of degradation). Then israel decided they wanted more blood. And that is why we are still there.

And... that is a problem. People are increasingly hoping that iran will be kind enough to give enough ceasefires and oil exports to keep the world from collapsing in the next two and a half years. I mean, we aren't the Iranian People so maybe? But... democrats aren't likely to say no to israel. And bibi needs to be at war to avoid his own problems.

So... it is increasingly looking like this war doesn't end until iran is just as destabilized as Iraq and Afghanistan were.

  • trump likes soldiers who don't get hit by missiles.

  • ... Someone providing additional context is not "defending" something. And maybe think how that mindset relates to the folk who scream "fake news" and "college is liberal brain washing".

  • Strickland is 100% "money can't buy class". And there were multiple (?) episodes where Minh and Kahn lost their money and "lived as hillbillies" as it were.

But sure. Feel free to focus on a few exceptions to completely ignore the entire rest of the pattern. This IS reddit after all.

I think you might be doing what a lot of people are. You look at Hank and you say "he isn't rich, he is middle class". And you fixate on when the upper class (like Kahn, even though he lives in the same neighborhood) get what is coming to them.

But you, like most people, ignore how often "the poors" are the villains and are punched down on. Folk like Jimmy and Lucky (although he mostly was comic relief) and so forth.

Which... gets back to Idiocracy. Smoothie and his wife were definitely rich academics. But Not Sure is the very definition of average. He is the everyman. It is just that the world has become so much stupider and so much poorer than he is and...

  • I mean, it is long stretches of night flying (generally staring into bright NVGs for extra eye strain) where they have to stay on edge for hours at a time. And it has the same culture of special forces where "it is a privilege to do this and only the best can earn it" which pushes people to push themselves even further.

So... think about that when you hear about helicopters and planes mysteriously crashing into each other or failing on missions.

  • I would disagree with it being a core theme. But most of Judge's work very much punches down on poor people. Whether it is Beavis and Butthead living in squalor and working at a mcdonald's (and most of their villains being "trailer trash") or many of Hank's "villains" also being "white trash". And a big theme of the first few seasons was Luanne triumphing against having grown up poor.

And... I love Office Space but it is hard to not look at Peter choosing to be a construction worker to be happy as "willful stupidity is bliss".

To my knowledge, Idiocracy is the only thing where he took that farther since the entire movie is predicated on Smoothie becoming Smoothie too soon and the eugenics that followed. Which... I think Idiocracy is funny (even if it is probably too painful to watch these days) but holy shit was that movie pushing eugenics harder than that creepy house Waypoint stayed at for an E3. Especially when the closing gag is something like "Not Sure and Rita had three of the smartest and most beautiful children ever. Dax Shepard had fifty of the dumbest".

  • And it is a pretty open secret amongst pilots.

  • I mean... the bad guy in Idiocracy is actually "inferior genetics" and "the poors", Like... I find it hilarious but holy fuck did that movie do a lot for advancing eugenics among the cultural zeitgeist...

But yeah. President Comacho actually cared and was trying to make the world better. And once Not Sure showed them that toilet water worked, they used it. Rather than insisting on shoving horse medicine up their asses out of spite.

  • I mean, based on publicly available criteria and descriptions... it probably is.

Its one thing for you or I to say "That plane probably has a deficiency in its countermeasures" because we have no inside information and no way to really have any. And no reputable news outlet would run that story.

But for somebody who works in the government who WOULD be privvy to that information to say it? It holds a lot more weight and provides a vulnerability that could lead to the death of the president (which, for the purposes of all the fbi agents reading this: would be bad).

Its obviously a temper tantrum by said potus because he can't show off the expensive gift his new beau gave him. And there are some very serious questions about how anyone signed off on him flying in it at all (for MANY reasons...). But... this kinda IS a pretty serious leak.

Its similar to how you or I can talk about how John Hinckley Jr was told to bust a cap in reagan's ass by his robot dog and it isn't an issue. But if George HW Bush started talking about how his dinner guest's brother was being manipulated by a robot dog?

  • It feels like there is an active war between sane people who don't want fucking cameras staring at them and looking them up on facebook and the revenge porn sites... and "content creators" who want to normalize wearing the thing they are getting sponsorships for because it makes it easier for them to record shopping spree videos (see, kiwi farms own, Linus Tech Tips).

It does bother me a bit since stuff like the xreal are getting caught in the crossfire. But, let's be real, people were just watching porn on flights with those so it is PROBABLY not a great loss for the sickos who plugged those into their steam decks or gameboys.

  • Creating such blind admiration for the military that half the country will either look the other way or proudly support when troops when they’re turned on US citizens

And we already saw that happened. Just wait for the inevitable jackass coming in to say that of course the military didn't stop a violent insurrection trying to murder congress: They aren't supposed to fight off domestic threats so, really, they were just following orders and should get blowies as rewards.

  • Folk need to understand:

It isn't just ICE. I think people are mostly starting to realize that cops aren't just bastards, they are dipshits. They are an entire class of Farvas, not Stablers (and it says something that the ultra-violent thug is the "good" end).

But also... the obsession with "Thank you for your service" was a specifically crafted effort because soldiers were cranky that people weren't giving them proper respect for murdering some brown kids in exchange for tuition. And you have not lived until you are watching someone lose their shit at the lowes/home depot greeter because all the veteran parking spots were full.

Nobody knows how January 2029 is going to play out (but a lot of us have nightmares about it...). But in the event the hellscape continues? You can bet there are folk who are tasked with giving ICE the Army/Marines makeover in the public eye. To the point that you are basically going to be forced to say "thank you for your service" to the thug trying to tear your driver's license in half before they disappear you.

  • You assume they aren't just straight up adding water.

  • Yeah. As an ACTUAL history buff (albeit, with enough stupid boy in me to also love military history), saying you are "a history buff" is a borderline dog whistle for "I like WW2 movies". Saying you are a "military history buff" even moreso. And platner is of the age where that would basically mean "Watched the History Channel" at the peak of "The Hitler Channel".

Folk will tell themselves whatever lies it takes to never have to admit they were wrong about a candidate they knew nothing about other than "white guy" and "said 'medicare for all' once"

  • He was also a guard at Abu Ghraib... during the torture and systematic sexual assaults. And then he joined up with blackwater because he hadn't had enough killing.

But hey! Anti-establishment hero, amirite?!?!? Real shame there was a concentrated smear campaign run on a politician in an important race. Damn you secret establishment cabal!

  • https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Biden_sexual_misconduct_allegation#Sexual_assault_allegation is a good write-up of things.

Mostly it comes down to... Biden was known to be creepy and inappropriate towards women for basically his entire career. Inappropriate touching was pretty par for the course, but allegations beyond a lingering hand or an unwanted "kiss on the cheek" are basically non-existent. Not at all okay but... anyone who is aware of joe "a clean and articulate gentleman" biden knew he was very much "born of a different time" and... yeah.

As for Reade? Nothing verifiable but plenty of people to come out of the woodwork and discredit her.

So my personal stance is... I intentionally don't have one. If biden did it, he will never face justice. I don't think Reade was a republican plant but I have also seen firsthand the mental toll that comes from an abuser being glorified by the community and how that can impact memories years later.

But I also don't think for a second that the people who bring it up on the regular care about the woman. They just see it as ammunition for Their Team.

  • First and foremost: At the best of times, accusations of sexual assault and rape are "he said she said". The defense is almost always "Well, she is a slut who told me she wanted it rough". Because on the off chance the victim actually managed to get a rape kit done in time AND the chain of evidence was maintained... all that really says is that sexual activity occurred and that there may or may not be signs of physical trauma.

And when you factor in rapists being predators who tend to target victims where it is even easier to discredit them (high risk behaviors like drug use or... wearing a skirt)? And cops tending to be bastards who actively don't want to investigate things?

This is why victims don't come forward. The best they can hope for is a slap on the wrist for the rapist and their entire life to have been thrown under a microscope and attacked. So mostly they just try to recover and live a life in a society that has actively failed them.

    But as for

My thoughts through this whole thing have just been that we shouldn’t jump to conclusions without properly investigating things.

That is exactly what everyone did when Lyndsey Fifield came forth. Basically everyone dismissed it because she is a republican. She was a slut. She deserved it. She is a lying bitch who just wants his sperm. Fucking whore was asking for it.

And that is why Jenny Racicot was brave enough to came forth and talked about platner violently raping her.

So... maybe educate yourself a bit more before you have any more "thoughts" that would make people think you are someone who is calling rape victims liars?

And yes, men are raped too but their reasons for not coming forward tend to be different. Although the societal abuse and shame aspects remain.

  • Sorry... are you claiming that the CIA are the ones who put a totenkopf on his chest for 20 years? And then covered it up with celtic imagery that is ALSO associated with white supremacy?

Because... I'mma be honest? I would totally invoke St Dril by giving them props for pulling that off.

Everything about Platner’s past and the media frenzy was he/said-she/said.

Actually, up until a few months ago (well, apparently much longer if you were in the women's groups on facebook et al that warned about dangerous men), it was mostly "he said". With the "he" being platner himself.

Or was that also the CIA?

Wait. Dog. IS PLATNER A ROBOT?!?!?!?!?! Is he like the mech suit from Men in Black 1 and if we flick his ear just right then we'll see he is piloted by a tiny Christian Slater?
