What sucks is that there are so many fantastic substacks (e.g. the.ink (Anand Giridharadas), Lucid (Ruth Ben-Ghiat), Robert Reich, Letters from an American (Heather Cox Richardson), etc
Nobody is required to like any new Trek shows. People have been discussing it already, and many dislike it. I don't really care if you like it or not.
The problem is a drive-by comment definitively stating it in this way, on a meme that has nothing really to do with Academy at all, reeks of toxicity. It's what plagues EVERY Discovery post here, and almost everywhere else on the internet. It's not productive, and discourages any post about those shows. Notice how there are virtually zero posts about Discovery or Picard here, and most elsewhere. The few times they come up, they are filled with flamewars and fighting and always turns toxic and unenjoyable.
I've moved accounts many times, so I have no clue how many I've made, but it's not 2000 yet.
