  • Looking at the included chart (below), I don't think the growth in "unknown" is the primary factor of Window's decline in market share. The chart does show, over the last two data points, that Mac OS and Linux have increased at the same time that Windows has decreased.

    This is all but one data point anyway, so it's not fair to draw a long-term conclusion based on that regardless.

  • I definitely think Google is guilty of what the Commission has accused them of here, but I also can't help but think: if pre-installing Google Search and Chrome are anti-competitive, why is Apple not guilty of the same thing? In fact, I'd argue that Apple is ten times worse in this regard because you actually can't use any browser but Safari on iOS (all other browser apps are actually just re-skins of Safari under the hood). Does being a vertically-integrated company excuse such behaviour?

If you're talking about a way for the minority to seize control of the chamber against the will of the majority, well, I challenge you to find a way to describe the rules for how that should work in a way that isn't easily gameable.

  • Doesn't even need impeachment, three of them probably could already be thrown in prison for corruption. Sure they don't have to vacate the bench, necessarily, but I don't think prison regulations allow for them to hear arguments or make rulings.

  • Back in 2020, a candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination named Andrew Yang proposed creating a new Department of Technology to regulate technology companies, because, as he put it, technology is now a huge part of our lives and economy and the current regulatory framework is completely unequipped to handle the torrential downpour of bullshit coming from Silicon Valley.

    He wasn't right about everything, and I didn't vote for him, but that was certainly a good idea in hindsight.

  • Let's see what the great American magnates of the past are remembered for:

    • Henry Ford was remembered for selling his cars at a low enough price and paying his workers a high enough wage that they could easily afford to buy the cars they made.
    • Andrew Carnegie was known for paying for the construction of a library in every town.
    • J. P. Morgan was known for bailing out the economy of New York using his personal wealth and influence when the Federal Reserve did not yet exist.

    All these men were also known as ruthless barons of industry who stamped out those who opposed them without second thought, but at least they also did a fair bit of good to at least try to offset their ills. Elon is just openly a horrible person. History will not be kind to his memory.

    Section 1. The eighteenth article of amendment to the Constitution of the United States is hereby repealed.

    Not "nullified". Repealed.
