I've been doing the job for over a decade.
Considering I've been doing this stuff for over a decade and have met less than a handful of people with the same technical expertise as I have, and I haven't met anyone that's more skilled... I'm pretty sure I should be making at least 6 figures.... Nobody will pay that much for what I do.
I'm not trying to brag or anything. It's just that I keep ending up in the position of having to educate everyone around me on how things actually work, and how to fix them. I spend more time in the bowels of Windows operating systems that the registry makes sense to me.
My understanding of the message in the OP is that phone companies are making phones suck after 2 years using updates that make the phone slower, etc.

I can't leave my geographic area for very good reasons, and I will in IT support. I'm experienced enough to be a "senior" support tech. But the average going rate in my area for my job is about 60k/yr. That sounds great until I tell you that I'm in Canada and that's Canadian dollars, which is about 43k/yr USD.
The state of the market here is embarrassing and I can't find jobs hiring for remote workers, or anything local enough that I could feasibly commute, that pays enough for it to be worth it to even apply.
If I do find a posting that's close it's a 1.5hr commute away and pays about the same as my current work from home gig.... Despite the toxicity, why would I take a job I need to spend an additional 3+ hours in a car to do the same work, with potentially the same toxicity, for the same pay?
I fucking hate everything.

To bring this full circle. "67" was used in a (semi?) popular song among Gen alpha, and unless they know this factoid, and that "67" is used as slang for the 10-67 police code in Philadelphia, then the placement of "67" in the lyrics of the song seems very odd at least, and completely random at best.
It seems that a nontrivial amount of Gen Alpha humor hinges on randomness, but as far as I'm concerned that's not exclusive to their generation. My fellow millennials were ROFL-ing to some pretty random stuff in our glory days too, so that part I get. With Gen alpha one noticed that the less of a meaning something seems to have, the more they cling to it, and the funnier it becomes.
6-7 sits in such an obscure part of human knowledge that, until very recently, only a very small group even understood it, even now, I would say that number hasn't really changed much. And because the meaning of 67 in the original lyric was unknown and presumed to not exist, making the lyric both random and meaningless, it's become the funniest shit ever for the Gen alpha kids.

I can explain it better than the people using it right now. 6-7 is a social indicator of being "in" on the joke. It identifies people as part of a generation/movement.
This type of thing isn't particularly unique. Like with "fuck your couch" it indicates that someone is a part of a social group.
The difference that the other poster is missing, is that, unlike previous stuff, where something like "fuck your couch" (to continue with the same example) has meaning outside of what it's referencing, aka those are words that mean things, 6-7 doesn't share the same informational bias.
"I can dig it", even without knowing the social etymology of the phrase can be interpreted by a layman, more or less, for its relative meaning. Meanwhile 6-7 is impossible to comprehend without knowing what it is referencing.
... It actually comes from Philadelphia slang, but I also wouldn't expect Gen alpha to know that either.

See, that's what I was thinking. I'll have to do more research, but I would think all the overhead from Windows being Windows, would kind of diminish the gap between running it natively on Windows, and using proton or something so you can run it on Linux.
The overhead on both should be fairly similar, though with how Windows is, it wouldn't surprise me if it was slower.

How much performance is lost/gained from using Linux to play games via proton?
I'm certain any game with a native Linux version will work great, I'm mostly concerned with the ones that need some kind of emulation layer.
I would agree that's what people mean, but they're completely overlooking that the problem has already been recognised, and addressed, with a solution that's been around for decades.
It's just that people take these modern amenities for granted, so they see them as part of the burden of doing the dishes or doing laundry, rather than relieving the burden of doing those things.
We can load up the dish washer and sit on our duff watching YouTube while a machine does the hard work. Then we just have to suffer through putting the dishes where we want them to go.
This is textbook "first world problems". AI is only expected to solve these first world problems. By definition, these problems are less actually problems that need solving, and more inconveniences that we perceive as problems.

We have machines to do the laundry and dishes for us already. We just have to set them up (put stuff in them) and they do the job for us.

I get all of the comments here. I understand the anger and distain that so many of you are feeling over the current state of things. I share in many of the frustrations and anger.
But it depresses me that Trump won't run for office again. He will be replaced by someone and the entire pool of former Trumpers will see that person and think that they can do all the things they hoped that Trump would do.
Even if Trump exits office without doing any further significant harm, the people who have made these kinds of revelations, like in the OP, will probably still vote for the same party, in spite of it all. Sure, they may never vote for Trump again, but they'll never get the chance to anyways, so who cares?

Don't be surprised if the next candidate follows the same playbook as Trump, and don't be surprised if the MAGA crowd falls for it again.
The only way forward, to ensure that this kind of damage is stopped, is to rally together in sufficient numbers to ensure that these folks don't get into office any more. The absentee voters need to get out and vote.
I am confident that the numbers would work out if we could get enough people to the voting booth.
