  • They are also the main developers of the Mastodon software. It is not just hosting the service. The software needs to be able to compete with Bluesky and right now it quite simply does not. The only way to get the quality needed is to have some full time lead developers. Also they need some proper admins to run the websites. Mastodon social is at 250,000 active users right now, but it is also fairly likely to grow fast with what Elon is up to with Twitter. Just to compare Twitter used to have 7500 employees, with a 1000 today.

  • There are ways around it, like link shorteners and so forth, but the main point is that Meta is afraid.

  • Whats wrong with Brazil?

  • The new Crypto AI game named DogeX allows you to become a Russian troll!

  • The party must return to its progressive roots. A new economy is needed with new rules and new roles

As in slavery is a great way to bring culture to those black slaves?

  • To pretend that Biden did not deliver weapons to Israel used for a genocide, but Trump will make it even worse? I just need to read the news for that. No need for a mirror.

  • The problem is not military restrictions. Biden did not have any either. The problem is recognition of annexed territories. We see how Israel is clearing out the northern part of Gaza and they are already talking about annexing the West Bank. We are likely to see a lot more violence in the West Bank soon. My guess is parts of Jerusalem and Jericho being in focus.

  • They switch candidates in the middle of the campaign, because Biden's polling was that bad.

  • The Democrat establishment wants power and for that they have to win elections. So having an anti establishment candidate is preferable to them over a Republicans victory. If anything good came out of the last election, it is that Trump as horrible as he is can still win elections against an establishment Democrat, so the Democrats have to change.

Also changing the parties does not work. The problem is systematic and the US really needs to change its election system, to get better politics.

  • Usually those artist did get some recognition during their life, but never got into the main stream. That changed due to the main stream changing and the people who did like the art showing it again. That is actually rather easy to do with something like the Fediverse. It just requires a download option. Especially when everybody is aware, that the content will be deleted, that would be a decent option.

Also a lot of content on social media in general is very short term. Stuff like politcal discussions are fairly useless after a few months in most cases. So that can be deleted without much care and again, if somebody wants to preserve it, they easily can just download it.

  • The US spends 3.4% of GDP in defence. Israel is at 5.3%. Also the US only spends a bit more then 3x what China spends and well US products are more expensive. So the US can probably fund its military for quite some time, without too many problems and right wingers love to do it, to bomb the shit out of people.

  • You can look at the thread. The initial one got a lot of replies from a "Vladimir Putin" saying "You should kill yourself NOW!". The Git commit is even worse, with the a lot of insults. Not what usually happens on that kind of places, not that they are always kind and lovely.

  • Like not risking his lifelyhood to fight US and EU sanctions against a genocidal regime?

  • Because there are both US and EU laws preventing code from countries deemed a threat. Torvalds is paid by the Ameircan Linux Foundation, which has to work under US law and he himself is an EU citizen. Also a lot of other developers are from those countries and if they do not comply, they could get into some pretty bad legal trouble.

So it pretty much boils down to kick out the Russians or kick out all US and EU citizens and well we see Linus choice.

  • They are planning to buy or maybe just electricity from a new reactor type, which has never been built, starting 2030, when conventional nuclear power plants, with known technology take twice as long to built.

So if they stop the project in 18months, it has just been a waste of money.

  • Anybody who claims to be as far left as they come, tends to be not very fed up on USA propaganda. They also do not tend to be Russian stock puppets.

  • Could it be that you are a Stalinist or something similar and have a deep hatred for democracy? Cause no electoral collage is more democratic and having senat elections is also more democratic then having them indirectly elected by the state legislators.

Obviously this changes the electoral landscape a lot, as presidental candidates no longer just have to care about voters in a few states, but the entire country. Again making it more democratic. It would also give the Democrats an advantage, but not an insane one. It however does give Republican voters in blue states and Democrat voters in red states a voice as well, instead of being ignored.

  • Not all of them all the time. Hamas are a bunch of radical Sunnis, who like Iran for example. However Al Qaeda and the Taliban really do hate Iran. Iran even told the US were to bomb Taliban positions, which was a big reason why the US could invade Afghanistan as easily as they did. Both Iran and the Taliban also fight the Islamic State.

The entire region is really complex and yes some Sunnis are going to cheer Iran being bombed, like the Saudis for example, others will not.
