  • I litteraly just went through this shit about 3hrs ago. I needed to install a flange gasket for a 2.5" pipe flange hydraulic return. A.I tells me I can't use this particular multi layer gasket type I have because I have a flat flange.

    Lo and behold I find the the manufacturer data sheet. Perfectly suitable for my application.

    Like it's one thing for a.i to fail at making shit up. But it's a hole other fuck up when it can't even regurgitate information correctly.

  • The concept of these repair cafes are great. I've volunteered in a couple. But some of the things that people bring in... pair of 10$ flats that the sole has fully fallen of. The damn glue costs more than the shoes. A run of the mill blender from the 90s that just should be retired. Damn t shirts with holes. Please just use the shirt as a rag at this point.

    Other things made sense. Laptop hinges, bikes, outdoor power equipment. Holes and buttons in jackets and sweaters.

  • Yep, paper wasps are chill as fuck. I had a hive of them living on my deck under the hand rail. I'd go out and chill with them daily with my coffee during that summer. They would stare at me for a bit. Then get back to eating bits of my deck.

  • 50/50 this has been in the works for a long time by many trust worthy people and companies well before Google. How Google got their dick in this? Who the hell knows. They also wanted to do the same in New Zealand for rats. They are invasive and have decimated the local bird population by eating eggs. It almost went ahead until some dumbfuck indigenous big chief was all like "nature finds a way" well now, birds are dead and rats are everywhere. Guess nature got fucking lost.

  • Yeah typically backyard trees can infact produce for much longer, I don't know why. At one point I was interested in having a peach orchard... then I looked into it. Quickly changed my mind.

  • Agreed also, peach trees only produce viable fruit for like 8 years or something. Are one of the most pia crops to grow. And once new ones are planted, they will be producing crop in 2-4 years. This isn't as tragic as these people are making it out to be. If the price to grow the peach and harvest the peach is 100$ per ton to break even. but because there is to many peaches on market and you can only sell for $80 a ton, how the fuck is the farmer going to sustain the farm? Pay for the ungodly amount of pesticide that peaches need, and stupid amounts of water for next year. You gota make the cut sometimes to protect next year's crop.
